February 10, 200521 yr Hello allI remember of seeing some shots were published in the Screenshot forum of an upcoming Ready for Pushback: Boeing 747-200 (FS9) panel modification with at least some kind of FMC with it. How is this project going on and when it will be released?
February 10, 200521 yr The base package already contains everything to incorporate the Civa INS (i.e. change some lines in panel.cfg). Newer systems than that are completely unrealistic for this aircraft type, so I cannot imagine someone would come up with such.Andreas Andreas, LOWW - Nihil sumus et fuimus mortales. February 10, 200521 yr Nothing at this point that I am aware of. One of the issues/questions that comes up is to what point do you modify or update something like a 747-200 most of the technology for which goes back to the late 1960's or the early 1970's. We elected to do the plane essentially as it was orginially released and, of course, Flight Managment Systems really were not a factor at that time. Given the degree of modifications that probably have been done to one aircraft or another, the possible variations begins to be a pretty large number and, I would venture to guess, that some, if not most of the aircraft, might well be unique examples by this time. The coding for RFP is, as you can imagine, very complex as we attempted to model everything that FS9 would support at the time of development. We elected to do the best job that we could do at the time in a focused manner ( the PW engined aircraft only); attempting to add a FMS would, in essence, be contrary at this point to what we set out to do. While there are certainly FMS equipped -200 aircraft out there, it would require a fair amount of re-programming and coding to make it work; personally, I feel that having to manage the flight yourself is one of the charms of the plane and I wouldn't care to have everything done for me. To my knowledge, there is no FMS addition currently planned for RFP.Hope that helps to clarify. Ed GreenKCLThttp://www.panelshop.com/DEV.jpg
February 10, 200521 yr Couldn't agree more Ed, the -200 is a work of art and to muck it up with a FMC doesn't make a great deal of sense to me. Just managing a triple INS makes for quite a lot of manual automation if that makes any sense at all. Those of you that use it know what I'm talkin about. I just hope we continue to see versions of your RFP 747-200 in FS2006 and beyond. RH
