New FSX install, strange graphics issue

Featured Replies

I just bought a new pc with the following components:

16 gb quad channel DDR3 at 1600 mhz

I7 4930 processor overclocked to 4.1 ghz

and 16 gb of ram

I loaded FSX Acceleration

FTX Global

FTX Vector

Latin VFR KMIA

Taxi to Go KMCO

I made the HighMEM fix

and I purchased to Steve DX10 Fixer,   but for the most part made no changes with it.

In both DX9 and DX10, when I taxi around an add on airport or a generic airport, the runways and taxiways look like they are vibrating. Even as I sit next to the runway, the solid lines take on the appearance of striped lines, not solid lines.

Note that when flying over the add on airport scenery at 1000+ feet, the images are crisp.

Can anyone please give me some idea how I can best resolve this?

Thank you

Robert

Turn down the terrain mesh setting.

FSX can't process the terrain fast enough, so as the resolution increases or new (distant) areas load, it will cause the local elevation to change with it, causing this bouncing you see.

Hate to say it, but throwing an overclocked processor at it won't solve the problem. FSX just doesn't work that way.

Best regards,

Robin.

The pc came with that overclock. Im hardware dumb  But I'll give your recommendation a shot (any particular mesh setting number?) and report back. Thanks very much.

Take a look at the AVSIM FSX Configuration guide located under Hot Spots to the right of this forum.  Make sure AA and AA are enabled.  Follow the guidance for the Nvidia NI settings to eliminate these anomalies.

You might get more information about your problems by checking out Steve's DX10 Fixer Forum located under Commercial Forums here on AVSIM.

Ok I will give that a go. When I tried the mesh resolution, I did not have much luck. I'll be back.  thanks Jim
