Firstly, a huge congratulations for your training.  I've just watched part 8 and have loved every minute of it.

 

Secondly, do you use a separate program for your ground vehicles etc. (i.e. the pushback trucks and the guys waving you in) or is that part of those airport packages?

I believe they are using FSDreamteam's GSX.

Hi James. Thanks, glad you enjoyed it! Indeed we are using GSX from FSDreamteam, very highly recommended.

 

It's worth bearing in mind that you can't start the engines during the pushback as GSX appears to disable the condition levers. This is why we started both on stand which is a bit different to the normal SOP of starting number two, disconnecting the GPU and then starting one while being pushed back.

Are the flight attendant and dispatcher calls part of the GSX program too?  Or did you voiceover those?

No sadly not. We added in all the dialogue after production. The flight attendant is my wife! We did have a real FA do it (along with a whole load of cabin announcements) but the files were accidentally deleted and there was insufficient time to have them re-recorded. In the end we just ran with the muffled PA sounds you can hear at various points that actually to my ears sound very realistic.

Haha I suspected as much.  Your wife did an excellent job!  

 

Are all these people (pilots, FAs etc) friends of yours, or did you put out a job search?  

The initial search was amongst friends but since we've expanded out from there. We'll be looking for 'actors' for the ATC roles in the upcoming F/O training as we visit Greece, Holland, Germany and Switzerland.
