April 23, 201412 yr HelloI am looking for a good quality payware GA aircraft for P3Dv2.2 with avionics utilizing updateable navigational data. I have pre-ordered the Milviz KingAir 350i but growing increasingly impatient with the long wait until release. Is there anything currently out there? I am flying the RealAir Duke/Legacy with that stock GPS/outdated P3D navdata and I am not satisfied at all!! Any recommendations would be very much appreciated! April 24, 201412 yr Hi John- I think, typically, the aircraft itself has to allow incorporation of a 3rd party GPS add-on, e.g. RealityXP or Mindstar, in able to allow you to update the data. RXP is more feature-filled, but... RXP seems to be gone from a development standpoint, and doesn't "easily" allow updates, at least, not through their own system. (Actually, I don't know about their P3D support, as I have the FSX stuff and it's a separate purchase.) Regarding Mindstar, while the features aren't complete yet, they do allow updating via a commercial data vendor. If they stick with it and keep developing to improve the features of their product (e.g. incorporating WAAS), they will be the go-to source for GPS add-ons. There may very well be some others at this time, but I'm not familiar enough with any to comment responsibly cheers Andrew H e l p k e e p A V S I M f l y i n g
April 24, 201412 yr Right now I think it's a waiting game. Milviz seems like the best short-term bet. Flight1 is on the sidelines (I'm wondering if they've dismantled future aircraft development). Carenado uses the default GNS under the covers. Eaglesoft is working on corporate jets so we may see some movement there as well since they've done some GA in the past. There's a whole world of opportunity in this space. Gregg Gregg Seipp "A good landing is when you can walk away from the airplane. A great landing is when you can reuse it." i9 64GB RAM, GTX-5090
April 26, 201412 yr Author Seems like Mindstar is the best short term bet for now but you need aircraft vendors on board to support its integration into the VC. I guess it could be manually done but that involves manipulating the panel.cfg files. They say patience is a virtue so I am hoping the Milviz King Air 350i with its updateable FMS will be the one to satisfy my needs in P3Dv2.2.
