Hello All !

 

Regardless  of which aircraft I'm in engaging the FD brings it up but it always stay in the straight and level flight position

 

Any idea

The FD is typically steered by the autopilot settings... what are you telling the autopilot to do?

 

..and what are you expecting from the FD?

Depends on what you are flying. The  flight director wont do anything unless teh Autopilot is on. For instance to take off in 737, you need FD on so the Autothrottle will work, you engage TOGA, but fly manually, once you are at 1000ft you engage Autopilot than the plane will start following what you have selected, GPS, NAV Heading LNAV etc
