May 29, 201412 yr Hello, while skiping thru the Manual today I found something that caught my attention: Procedure Turns. Especially the symbology on the ND as described on 10.40.19 FCOM 2. Sooo...are they modeled? And if yes at what airport can I find them? Thanks in advance Frederik FREDERIK STEINER
May 29, 201412 yr Commercial Member Hi, They're not modelled as far as I'm aware. The MD-11 has the option for pilot-programmed PT but they never implemented it (sadly) I've not seen it in the 777 so far either. Best regards, Robin.
May 30, 201412 yr Try the ILS 27 approach at EHAM/AMS (Amsterdam) that involves a 270 degree teardrop turn but I'm not sure if that is what is defined as a procedure turn. Francis Leung
May 30, 201412 yr Commercial Member Not modeled - it would be incredibly rare to be given an approach involving a procedure turn in a 777 in the real world btw. You can always do it in raw data anyway too - a procedure turn is not defined by the FMC/ND, it's defined by the ground navdaid and leg times, similar to a hold. Adding this and a couple other things is going to require a ground-up reworking of our navdata syntax and formatting - it's something that if done is going to add a least a year of development time to the product whose development period it happens in. This is is basically ripping out the core of the FMC and it opens a huge can of worms for potential issues - we're not keen to do it for that reason.
