June 13, 201411 yr I'm wondering if I installed Makerwys correctly from FSX. I updated Makerwys and put that in the main FSX folder, which is in the C drive since installing FS into the C drive is the better place to put it. After putting Makerwys in the main FS folder, I hit rebuild scenery in RC. I put the path to FS and hit no to wide FS. It then completed in just a few minutes. So do you think it worked correctly or was it something that I could of done wrong?
June 13, 201411 yr When you hit rebuild, did the RC box come up showing the scan in process? And did you extract the exe form the zip when you downloaded it and put it in the FSX root? It could have scanned quick depending on how many sceneries you have installed. Mine takes a couple of minutes if that. Chris Howard
June 13, 201411 yr RC creates some more files from the fresh database after makerwys has finished. Did you get those multiple messages from RC? I set the properties of my makerwys.exe to 'Run as administrator'; not sure though, whether this is necessary. What happened to AVSIM
June 13, 201411 yr Author RC creates some more files from the fresh database after makerwys has finished. Did you get those multiple messages from RC? I set the properties of my makerwys.exe to 'Run as administrator'; not sure though, whether this is necessary. Yea, I think I got those messages. I also did have the window pop up saying RC is rebuilding the scenery, so maybe it did work.
June 13, 201411 yr The last message from RC is building a4.csv and maybe finished building a4.csv. Ok that, wait half a minute, then close RC. Restart to use. The first message is the makerwys pop-up about ready to build, etc. Ok that and you will see the airport and runways countdowns. Then you see the finished message from makerwys which you OK. Then RC says copying r4.csv as I recall then built, etc., which you OK each followed by the two a4 messages which you OK each. If you like use explorer with detail views to go into rcv4 or rcv4x\data. check the size and modified dates of r4.csv and a4.csv. Of note is that in your main FS folder r4.csv is not used. r5.csv is copied to rcv4x\data as r4.csv to get some extra details. A further check is to see in your main FS folder that r5.csv is the same size as r4.csv in your rcv4x\data folder and the modified date is the same current one.. That covers all of the rebuild functions and data produced as run by RC. Be sure you don't open any of the .csv files if the need arises to examine them with any spreadsheet or database application. They will corrupt those files. Only a text editor should be used. These procedures are only to give you confidence that it worked. A tip: I keep the full FS path in a text file in my documents folder with a shortcut to it on my desk top. When any application including the RC scenery rebuild asks for that, I open that document and copy the text to the clipboard and then paste it into RC path dialog. You just alt-tab to switch windows between your text window and RC's path request dialog.
