June 18, 201411 yr The GUID format in FSX is different from the one used in FS9. Perhaps, but it's best he doesn't change any GUID information. If you don't change any GUID information, FSX object placement files generally work perfectly. Hello again Guys i've been learning allot id like to know one last thing If i where to change the Objects GUID's to match the Original GUIS'S would theFSX placement Files work in FS9 and place the Objects Accordingly? Ive been only converting and putting the Freeware Airports together. I've noticed that after Exporting with MDCVX the Guis changes when i place them in Lib maker the GUID'S do not match the ones in the Placement files If that is what is happening, than change the GUIDs back to what they were in FSX. But if you converted libraries as libraries without disassembling them into individual models first (using the method I described in this thread), then there is no reason to go to all of that work because MCX will not change the GUIDs to begin with! In short, MCX should be the only program you need to convert FSX libraries. If you're using any other program in addition, you're making it far more complicated than it needs to be.

Yes I've been Exporting them as FS9 models then Recompiling them, I've also exported as Fs9 BGL's and it seems even when exporting them as FS9 Bg's The Mdl conversion still takes place but not sure if the GUI's are being changed as well if have to take a look. The Afcad files are yet another problem I've used FSX2FS9 to convert the Afcad and it seems to show up in the sim but the Airport does not show up in the Airport selection Screen. If an Airport does not Exist in FS9 but does in FSX wouldn't the AFCAD allow the Airport to be seeen in the FS9 Airport Selection Menu? The only way i can get to the actual Airport is by Opening the AFCAD in ADE then getting the Long and Latt and manually typing it in FS9 Feel free to like my Screen Shot Page (Cheers) https://www.facebook.com/pages/My-Flight-Simulator-2004-Screenshots/1448105718745013

If so, it hasn't actually converted anything and you need to read what it says and manually edit the XML file it creates to fix the error. Once you've fixed that, then just drag the XML to BGLCOMP to compile it. If you're still having trouble, check in ADE to make sure that the airport has a start location. Also use ScanAFD to see if somehow you have a duplicate somewhere.
June 18, 201411 yr Author No errors from what i c an see i will post screens i also checked for starting locations they seem to be there as i added them with ADE but still Refuses to show up in the Airport Menu in FS9 Im really new at this im sure im doing something wrong :unsure: XML Information <?xml version="1.0" encoding="ISO-8859-1"?> <!-- Created by Scenery Design Engine (SDE) on 6/18/2014 --> <FSData version="9.0" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xsi:noNamespaceSchemaLocation="bglcomp.xsd"> <Airport country="Germany" city="Bad Endorf" name="Bad Endorf-Jolling" lat="47.9270001500845" lon="12.2870001196861" alt="514.0M" ident="EDPC" > <Services> </Services> <DeleteAirport deleteAllRunways="TRUE" deleteAllStarts="TRUE" deleteAllHelipads="TRUE" deleteAllFrequencies="TRUE" deleteAllTaxiways="TRUE" deleteAllAprons="TRUE" deleteAllApronLights="TRUE" deleteAllApproaches="FALSE"/> <Tower lat="47.9270001500845" lon="12.2870001196861" alt="0.0M" /> <Start type="RUNWAY" lat="47.9302965849638" lon="12.2854891419411" alt="514.0M" heading="163.516738891602" number="17" designator="NONE"/> <Start type="RUNWAY" lat="47.923483774066" lon="12.2889545559883" alt="514.0M" heading="345.990417480469" number="35" designator="NONE"/> <TaxiName index="0" name=""/> </Airport> </FSData> Feel free to like my Screen Shot Page (Cheers) https://www.facebook.com/pages/My-Flight-Simulator-2004-Screenshots/1448105718745013

June 18, 201411 yr For those that are reading and wish to know the solution we discovered in our PM conversation: FSX2FS9 by default creates converted AFD files named in the format "*.bgl.bgl" These don't work in FS9 - they need to be renamed in the format "*.bgl". Once that is done, it converted AFDs work just fine.
June 18, 201411 yr Good to know. I stopped using FS9 when FSX was released, so wasn't aware of the conversion tools for AFCADS. Best, Michael KDFW
June 18, 201411 yr Author ????? Model Converter X Is set to Preserve GUI'S on Export yet still when the Object is Exported as a Model the Gui's are changed. When Exported as a BGL it will preserve the GUIS but the Objects dont Appear in the sim... When Exported as MDL's Guis are not preserved but after manually changing them the Items appear.???? Its quite a task changing the GUI'S one by one and quite a pain that MDLCVX does not export them properly when Exporting them as FS9.BGL's Feel free to like my Screen Shot Page (Cheers) https://www.facebook.com/pages/My-Flight-Simulator-2004-Screenshots/1448105718745013

Its quite a task changing the GUI'S one by one and quite a pain that MDLCVX does not export them properly when Exporting them as FS9.BGL's It might be good to double-check that??? In the options menu, under "Exporter Settings," under "MDLWriter," I've got "PreserveGUIDOnExport" set to true. As a result, when I have an FSX library open, I am able to simply click on "Export Scenery" and select "FS2004 .BGL" When I do that, MCX treats the library file I have open as a batch and automatically compiles each and every model in the library first as an MDL and then compiles the lot of them into an FS2004 .BGL library, preserving the original GUIDs as it does so. Is there ANY setting or ANY procedure you're doing that differs from what I just posted?
June 19, 201411 yr Author Same way mines is also set to true, When Exporting this way you are correct the GUI's are the same and matches the Placement XML file but once all finished textures flipped and converted resized for fs9 all I see as objects are black shadows on the ground. On the other hand if I Batch Export the objects as modles ithen Re-compile the objects shows up fine but can only be used as a library cause of the GUIs not matching theXML file there are 80 objects for OBJ and 80 for VEG if I change them manually as I did for a previous airport I think it will work but it's a big job Feel free to like my Screen Shot Page (Cheers) https://www.facebook.com/pages/My-Flight-Simulator-2004-Screenshots/1448105718745013
June 19, 201411 yr Hmm. I don't think I've ever had this problem. Well... actually I have, but that was when ORBX Objectflow dlls were involved - and I gave up on the project as a result. What scenery are you converting?
June 19, 201411 yr Just a quick reminder; in FSX the GUID is part of the model file, which isn't the case in FS9. Mike Mann
June 19, 201411 yr Just a quick reminder; in FSX the GUID is part of the model file, which isn't the case in FS9. I'm not sure I understand what you mean. If what I think you are saying is true, then conversion of sceneries from FSX to FS9 would be impossible. Which it isn't as my experience with successful conversion of airports indicates.
June 19, 201411 yr aren't FS9 models SCASM code based were as FSX models are not which is why you get better performance in FSX with native models over legacy ones. Best, Michael KDFW
