June 18, 201411 yr After many years of hesitation I now moved from FS9 to FSX. One thing I haven't figured out yet is how to avoid the "swivel" when changing the angle of view in the outside view. FOr instance I am looking at my plane from the side and then move the point of view behind the plane. Instead of just fixing the point of view behind the plane the view first "overshoots" to the other side and then centers back on the angle of view that I want to have. Quite annoying, it is as if the outside camera was drunk or on a floating carpet. In FS9 one could tick a box to "fix" outside views. How can I do that in FSX? Second, for some reason the keyboard shortcuts for "move view right", "left", etc. don't seem to work. To fix the problem I have assigned other keystrokes, but to no avail. Any known fix for that? Thanks Chris
June 18, 201411 yr You can reset that external view by pressing ctrl+space bar. You can also get one that won't swivel at all. I think you have to press shift+a or shift+s for that while in external view. It will cycle through different views. Eventually you'll find the external view where the camera is dead still until you decide to move it. When you find it, just cycle your views back to your VC by pressing "s" or the shortcut you've assigned to your flight control. Once you have this, everytime you pick your external view during that flight, you will get the stable camera. Hope this helps. Nature Boy
June 18, 201411 yr Have you tried "locked spot" instead of "spot" for the external view? I don't know what you mean by "move view". Do you mean "move eyepoint"? Welcome to FSX. Art
June 18, 201411 yr Locked spot can be accessed by clicking S to shift to spot view and then A. Regards, Jeremy Chesney
