Remains of installation or unique paging file?

Featured Replies

I have my simulators installed outside drive C.
I noticed that after installing P3DV2 on drive D in my C drive, about 11 GB have been allocated, the free space that was previously 99.6 GB after installing P3DV2 went to 88.4 GB.
I cleaned the temporary files folder, but the 11GB were not released.
P3DV2 leaves remnants of the install mode on drive C, or allocates a paging own space?
In case of installation debris, which should be removed automatically inform anyone know where it is so I can remove manually?
With P3DV1.4 it does not.

Look in the following folder...

C:\ProgramData\Package Cache

...for a numbered folder that's about 11 gig in size.  That contains the files from the install download minus the actual install program which is one of the other numbered folders.  I deleted this and got the space back.  This was important because I only have 34 gig free on my SSD C: drive after the deletion.

It is not recommended to delete everything in the Package Cache folder.

Thanks Larry, I met with a very strange name:

{5DD3CF5D-9573-44A8-9543-D65BED953192} v2.0.9448.0

{5DD3CF5D-9573-44A8-9543-D65BED953192} v2.2.10437.0

Had 10.4 GB each and were deleted, recovered 20.8 GB on my SSD.

I had this problem and it is really annoying for those of use  trying to keep their OS drive clean of rubbish left after an install.

I've asked Prepar3D to change their installer so that we can choose to extract the cab files to a location of our choice rather than to the OS drive. Took me ages  to reinstall P3D as I didn't have enough space on my C Drive.
