June 26, 201411 yr Hi there! Normally, I am using the default XPX clouds. I just love the cloud shadowing (which isn´t possible with SMP) too much, and with the 10.30 betas, the default clouds look way better than before (better colouring, etc.) But I promised my viewers on twitch.tv, to do one or two flights with SMP installed and the weather engine of EFASS (Ultra WX) injetcting the weather. To be sure that everything works flawlessly, I installed v1.3.3 of SMP and did a short FS Economy flight in Carenado´s B200 over the Austrian Alps. Though I missed my beloved cloud shadows, the result still looked quite appealing! What do you think?
June 27, 201411 yr Thank you! On my second flight, this time in some worse weather, the performance boost with SMP was very noticeable!

June 27, 201411 yr Is there a new skymaxx update yet? It's been awhile. Since I haven't been using SMP for the last few months, the 1.3.3 update was new to me. I think they are working on an update that includes lens flare effects and improved cloud textures... Love those screenshots! Unfortunately I don't yet have the hardware to make my sim look as nice as that. While XPX can use the power of modern graphic cards and fast multicore cpu's, it will work quite nicely on slower machines with reasonable settings as well. Many people turn off HDR as that brings a huge boost on performance. HDR is very important for the realistic and dynamic look of XPX, so one should always try to turn settings like objects, cars and shadows a bit down, to create the necessary headroom for HDR.

Absolutely. I can't run X-Plane without HDR, just doesn't look right so not something I'm willing to sacrifice. I'll tinker around with the settings and see what else I can turn off. Michael R
