July 7, 201411 yr I was trying to do a flight from LTBA to LTFG. While planning the fligh I always use FSCommander for PMDG 737. LTFG has ILS landing in runway 08 but after going through the final VOR, there is no STAR that I can choose. I tried to manually set heading according to ATC then LOC worked and plane aligned with the runway but APP doesn't work and it keeps the plane in a hold altitude and doesn't descent. Either there is a problem with the ILS of the airport as its freeware or I am doing something wrong. I would like to know if its related with me. Thanks. Büke Yolaçan

July 7, 201411 yr Danny ( ) Büke, did you see a glideslope indication on the PFD, and could it be, you might have been a little too high for the G/S, so APP didn't capture it? What happened to AVSIM

I saw the localizer capture but didn't see any glideslope diamond but I was at 2200ft which is the last ATC told me to descend. Büke Yolaçan
July 7, 201411 yr Büke, looks like there's a LOC only approach available with NO glideslope: http://charts.navigraph.com/apt/LTFG.html So you would have to descent in VNAV. What happened to AVSIM
July 7, 201411 yr So you would have to descent in VNAV. Or heaven forbid, manually fly the approach! Jay

Thanks, but i have no idea how to descent manually in VNAV? I mean how can I know which altitude should i get in which distance etc. Or heaven forbid, manually fly the approach! Tried, no luck Büke Yolaçan

July 8, 201411 yr Author You can select an RNAV approach in the CDU, Büke. Can you explain more in detail or send PM? Thanks Büke Yolaçan
July 8, 201411 yr For a start, just take a look (again) at the NGX tutorial no. 2: It features an approach into Innsbruck (LOWI). Most of the approach in the tutorial is done in VNAV (up to a certain point anyway). See the preflighting for the approach (CDU), starting on p. 28, and the approach phase, starting on p. 109. Your approach will be much easier, because you don't need the visual approach, no circling to land, and you can replace LNAV by LOC, as soon as you receive the LOC frequency at LTFG.
