Hi guys,

i'm considering upgrading my cpu and replacing

my current  i5 2500 (3,3Ghz) with the i7 4790K.

Has anyone already upgraded from sandy bridge to devil's canyon?

Could you report the  performance differences you have  seen, by posting specific  before - after  framerate numbers?

I'm interested on stock performance comparisons, since i don't overclock.

Also, i fly    with 737 pmdg, rex 4 , asn, orbx  +airport addons, so similar comparisons would be very helpfull.

 

The rest of my system is: 4 giga ram 1333 xms3 corsair (have removed 4 giga due to a problem), gtx 770 2gb, cx600, 500 gb  hdd.

Just finished my build. With the components I posted on page 1 I am very pleased with the results,. Just took off rwy 22 with dream team JFK, Activesky next with a bit of crummy weather, REX textures, and with majestic q400 the fps was 48 and very smooth. With PMDG 777 it was 35 and smooth.

I just the asus ai suite 3 (seemed pretty slick) to overclocking. It made it up to 5 ghz then blue screened. It then automatically set 4.8 ghz.

I am looking forward to installing p3d on my other SSD

 

I also have orbx global and areas on the west coast but haven't tested it yet

I also want to mention, that i just received my U2713HM 27'' monitor.

In 2560 X 1440 resolution, i haven't see so far any performance  drop.

The framerates are steady from 1280 X 1024 up to 2560 X 1440.

It seems to bee a huge cpu bottleneck
