  1. Hi everyone, I am currently mid-flight, flying the PMDG 737 NGX and I just changed the CRZ level for the step climb appropriately, and then VNAV disconnects, and it says 'VNAV disconnect' in scratchpad of FMC and FMC does not respond. I can click buttons on the FMC yet still it won't. Swift advice would be much appreciated as I am approaching T/D in 30 mins, Cheers and merry christmas!! Daniel
  2. Hi everyone, Recently, my GPU has been acting strange and now loads itself between 80-99% when I'm playing FSX and many other games as well. As of a result of this, I have been getting lower FPS. For example on the ground at LGTS with the PMDG 737 With pretty high settings, would usually get 40-50 FPS in the VC (mouse cursor out of window obviously) but now I get 15-20. The lower FPS comes from the GPU coming under massive load: https://billedeupload.dk/?v=cP9Wh.png It has usually been around 40-60% The temps are not very high either. I have tried setting to 'preferred maximum performance' setting in Nvidia Inspector and changing the settings but doesn't help. I have tried updating, reinstalling and switching drivers but to no avail. Also to note that this seems to have happened after I opened up my PC and trying to access the fan controller. Could this have come from moving or touching some cables and parts? (I am a computer noob pretty much) Thanks in advance and any help would be much appreciated. Dan
  3. (THIS WAS DOUBLE-POSTED - sorry browser told me I had timed out) Hello everyone, After the SP1b update, everything was fine, until 2 days after: Now, even running FSX as admin and dealing with DirectX, I notice I am missing some cockpit sounds, like turning the knobs, pressing buttons etc. they are gone.. thanks in advance and any help would be much appreciated. Cheers, Dan

  5. I have lost some cockpit sounds, like pressing buttons and turning knobs. That's all gone. There are still some sounds though.. Cheers, Dan
  6. If I got EZDok, would that keep the mouse away from the window in which it has an effect? I heard with EZDok you use keyboard and joystick keys to switch views, and right now, I hold down space and move the mouse to pan around the cockpit or other views. Am I understanding this right? Cheers, Dan
  7. I can't find any settings for intel Turbo Boost in Asus UEFI BIOS. Now, after installling my add-ons, mods, tweaks etc. again, my GPU still performs oddly at times. It is just very inconsistent which I would not expect for a high-end card like the GTX 770. This is just an easy example to relate and compare (I get worse scenarios on ground at EGLL for example): I locked my FPS at 60 (at 30 it acts strange), and when cruising with the T7, my FPS hangs around 60 and my GPU load is 32% - http://billedeupload.dk/?v=seWx5.png A few minutes later, my FPS drops to 30-40 and my GPU load becomes 65% - http://billedeupload.dk/?v=6e9Z4.png This is a shot in the dark but is there any solution to this native FSX glitch: mouse cursor causes fps loss? Cheers, Dan
  8. So, temps are fine at idle now, but now the multiplier and CPU frequency has been going above 4.4. I haven't overclocked or attempted to at all: http://billedeupload.dk/?v=Losfq.png Windows Power Option is set to 'High Performance'.
  9. Yeah, thanks for the help - appreciate it. I have a fresh Windows and FSX install, no REX, extra textures or any add-ons installed yet so I am not surprised by my frames. Once all the add-ons are installed it will go down naturally. Cheers, Dan
  10. Nothing abnormal seems to go on during the prime95 stress test. Only using FSX as of yet, and using the latest Nvidia drivers (340.xx). What does AHCI do and where can I find this setting in the UEFI Asus BIOS?
  11. Problem seems to have been fixed, but you never know. It could be a hardware issue.. Reinstalled Windows (didn't lose much, only 5 days old), reinstalled FSX, SP1 + SP2, tweaked loaded up default Trike at default EGBB no other add-ons, Silders close to high: Nvidia Inspector Temp 49 Fan 58% Load 55%. GPUZ Temp 49 Fan 58% Load 55% Frame rate: 200-300
  12. I am fully convinced now that this is a hardware issue. I am experiencing the same pattern in other games. It appears as though my GPU is forcing massive load on to itself: http://billedeupload.dk/?v=JVUN7.png The load percentage (88%) is far too high from what I hear and in a normal instance, I should get it at around 50-60% which I do get sometimes but it changes every restart. On one occasion it can be fine with 50-60% load but after a restart the load will go back sometimes to above 90%. Difficult to explain but oh well. Let me note that my GPU was overclocked.
  13. I have tried all your recommendations with no luck, as I expected; I just can't get it back to the way it was before and should be like others have theirs perform. I believe this is a hardware issue. Surely it's not normal that Nvidia Inspector shows that my GPU load is between 80 to 90% when playing Minecraft? (reinstalled windows, yet to install fsx). CPU seems to act normal in terms of temps and load..
  14. If I load up FSX and load up the default set-up (ultralight, fair weather etc.), I only get 30-40 FPS. I know this is very unusual. FSX Settings: DetailRadius: Large Mesh Complexity: maximum Mesh Resolution: maximum Terrain Resolution: maximum Water: High2.x Scenery Complexity: Extremely Dense Autogen Density: Extremely Dense Bloom: OFF Lens Flare: ON Advanced Animations: ON Traffic: Only cars at 80% I know Bert Maybe it's just my misfortune, or maybe it's just me and my fussy personality. Nonetheless, a place where I would get above 60 FPS (without a frame limiter) I get 20-30 FPS now..
  15. I should've said that I was unclear what resolved it. I have been doing many system restores, reverted them sometimes, edited some BIOS settings, Windows updates and changing Windows Power Option from 'High Performance' to 'Balanced'. In the two links in my previous, you will see in both images that in the top right, the multiplier value is different. The one with 4.4GHz was with the high temperatures I was talking about (idling at 50 C and FSX at 80 C). The second one was with the lower temperatures (idling at 30C and FSX at 50-60 C). I am still trying to work out what it was.. Cheers
  16. I actually figured out it was Apple earphones that were the culprit. The mic probably isn't compatible with the sound card i guess. I can get it all to work with a headset with a mic. I appreciate your efforts and advice. Cheers Dan
  17. I'd like to thank everyone for their input and advice! I managed to fix this issue however I have two more issues: First one (new thread): http://forum.avsim.net/topic/448474-variable-performancefps-in-games-fsx/ Second one: does the change in value (multiplier) in these two images in the top right have any meaning or effect? Before: http://billedeupload.dk/?v=rZnD2.png After: http://billedeupload.dk/?v=DQJar.png' Cheers, Dan
  18. Hello everyone, Problem after problem for me unfortunately. Just got a new PC 5 days ago, and a couple days after, my performance has been very inconsistent, more noticeable. For example, in Minecraft, on one occasion I can get 300-400 FPS and on another occasion I get 1100-1300 FPS (difference is way too large..). In FSX when locked at 30, I have been able to get 30 but other times around 20 FPS (all on high settings and demanding add-ons) I have had a few blue screens, some of them coming when doing system restores, but recovered from them fine. During that time, in the BIOS, I also pressed F5 which loaded the 'optimization defaults' and changed a few things just to note. I have tried reinstalling Windows with no luck. Temps on my CPU are fine and now I am wondering whether maybe my GPU has messed up, but not sure how I can check. Specs: Intel Core i7-4790K 4x4.00GHz (Turbo 4.40GHz) Asus Z97-A Motherboard Vision G-Series V2 Gaming Case Kingston 8GB DDR3-2400 HyperX FURY Asus GeForce GTX770 2GB OC (with DirectCU II cooler) Raidmax 835W Power Supply Samsung 840 EVO 250GB SSD 1TB Seagate Barracuda (7200rpm, 6GB/s) Antec Kuhler H20 650 Liquid Cooling Asus Crystal Sound 2 (Dolby Home Threatre & DTS) Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit Thanks in advance and any help and advice would be much appreciated. Cheers, Dan
  19. Hello everyone, So, a few days after having this PC, I had problems with the sound card (separate matter). I did a few system restores but no change. Oddly enough, after most of the system restores, I got BSODs.. I haven't overclocked. I had high temps with my 4790K but it was fine and I got really good performance with FSX but now with lower temps, it has gotten worse. I have accidentally reset settings in the Asus BIOS to default and I believe that may have contributed to the result I now have with very poor performance in FSX and other games.. One thing I noticed with RealTemp after this change from the BIOS was this: (The good one): http://billedeupload.dk/?v=rZnD2.png My clock was constant 4.4GHz and it says ''100 x 44.0'', and stayed like that throughout, producing great performance. (The bad one): http://billedeupload.dk/?v=DQJar.png Now, my CPU performs strangely jumping up and down a lot more often and my FPS at unlimited varies greatly from 20 to 130 and the top right shows ''99.94 x 42.5'' which I believe is a multiplier of some sort. Thanks in advance and any help and advice would be much appreciated Cheers, Dan
  20. So, after a few days of testing with the temps, I reset my BIOS settings to the 'optimized defaults' or something similar (probably not the best thing to do), and after that set my fans to full power. Now the highest temperature I am getting on 'High Performance' power option is 71 C and at idle 37-42 C. It seems like the performance in FSX has suffered slightly; a few FPS spikes. Cheers
  21. Yes, correct. It happens every time. I plug in the earphones (they are Apple's earphones - could be why?) into the headphone/earphone jack and the mic stays grayed out. Apple's earphones have an in-built mic. Am I supposed to have a headset with separate mic and headphone jacks with it? That may be it, if I am that stupid lol.. I tried plugging my earphones into every 3.5 mm jack on the front and back of my PC. Cheers
  22. Thanks for your reply - much appreciated! In the Windows 'Sound' application, when i go to the 'Recording' tab, it will only recognise a mic if I plug my earphones into the 3.5 mm microphone jack, and only will the green bar move up and down when plugging the jack in, but when I try to speak, no moving green bar. Microphone works as I tested it on my PC. Windows does not recognise the microphone at all when the earphones are plugged into the headphone port. Could this have anything to do with the onboard sound which can be changed in the BIOS? Cheers, Dan
  23. Hey everyone, This is a real shot in the dark really (and maybe not even relevant to this forums section!), but because of this issue I cannot use voice on VATSIM, use Skype or other microphone communications. I am using apple earphones with a perfectly functional microphone (tested on old PC), but with my new PC and the sound card (if that is at fault maybe) Asus Crystal Sound 2.0, my microphone won't work, nor will Windows properly recognise it. The 'Sound Recorder' with Windows doesn't show any input with the moving green bar. I tried putting the earphones into all the 3.5 mm hacks but no luck. This is really irritating as the whole point of getting a new PC was for FSX and VATSIM. Any help and opinions would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance. Cheers, Dan
  24. Second day of testing, and I let a lot more cooler air into my room and see the results, which are better: At Idle: http://billedeupload.dk/?v=YaU8j.png With FSX (UK2000, PMDG 777, max settings - whether that makes much of a differenence): http://billedeupload.dk/?v=wSZPp.png Images are of RealTemp Earlier, same day (today) the two central cores hit 81 C and 82 C but that was out of sync with my other results. I consulted the company who built it for me and who supposedly overlocked it to 4.4GHz constant, and they say its perfectly normal. Cheers, Dan
  25. Yes using the GTX 770 2GB and at the moment only 1 x (Asus 1920x1080) display, though plan to add another 1 in the near future.
