Couple questions before purchasing.

I currently have a 3930k OC@ 4.4Ghz

I just had the luck to be able to get my hands on a motherboard from work for a great, great price and I couldn't resist. Its just that my 3930k does not fit the socket of this board (ASUS P8Z77-ws).

My Problem:

The board I currently own is from a stock Alienware rig I picked up a couple years back and I haven't changed it since my purchase. My current board only has one slot for 1 GPU and I'm looking to pick up a 2nd GTX 780 for when P3D v2.x eventually gets SLI support.

So what I need help with is, should I put in this ASUS board I got from work and buy a 4770k or keep my existing 3930k and buy a board that has SLI support for my second GFX card that I am eventually getting. Which proc is better OC'd and which is better for simming?

What would you do? I am leaving the office in a few hours and I know I will be picking something up lol

The fastest CPU you can fit to that board is a 3770k.  I would sell that board, and put it towards a Z97 board and 4790K or wait for the next  Haswell-E platform to appear

I always have caution when changing a board, because for me it usually means that the OS on the hard drive will not be compatible or recognized and a full format of the hard drive will be necessary. Just make sure you are sure what you want before you begin.

Sorry i ment to say 4790k not the 70 (i updated the topic title)....Also Im not an expert in the proc game why is the 3930k so expensive? I think Im going to sell my 3930k and pop in the ASUS P8Z77ws board and put in the 4790k. I want to try getting it to OC at least 4.5-4.6 is this doable with this board? I am liquid cooled.

I am doing a complete system re-format when I do these installs. I am going to be killing 2 birds with 1 stone (lol) I am going to have a %100 FSX free computer with only P3D v2.x

You misunderstood.  You can NOT put a 4770k or a 4790k into that board.  The Z77 is a s1155 board, NOT a s1150 board.  As I said, an Ivy Bridge 3770k is the fastest CPU that will fit that board.

I got you now. Yes your right. So knowing this would u get a 3770k with this ASUS board or keep the 3930k with the stock Alienware board with one GPU slot
