Ms Visual C++ Libraries

Recommended Posts

Hello,

Could someone help me with a list of Microsoft Visual C++ libraries which are needed to run FSX properly? Also a link to those libraries would be welcome. I'm running fsx on a windows 8.1 x64 machine.

Thanks!

@firehawk44: thank you for the link. I checked the guide and according to the list of 2005 redistributables (from page 5), 2 versions should be installed: 8.0.61001 and 8.0.56336.

I checked my installed versions of MSV C++ 2005 and they are: 8.0.61001 and 8.0.59193 (and not 8.0.56336 as in the guide).

Should it be okay as in my configuration?

@mgh:  I recently have installed Nero burner on my PC and the installation also updated my MSV C++ 2005 redist. Ever since I get some stutters in fsx and I wonder if the Nero installation could have damaged the library.

Yes. Microsoft Visuals are installed when you install FSX/SP1/SP2/Acceleration if the proper version is not found during the installation. If it is found, it will not be reinstalled and your product will continue to install. When you installed Nero burner, it installed the version it was developed for and will install that version. Perhaps that's the 8.0.59193 version. I just checked the ones I have installed and it is still the 8.0.56336 version. Make sure you have the x86 versions and not the 64 bit versions. Even Nero should not be using a 64 bit version as they are all 32 bit applications (x86). In any case make sure you have the 8.0.56336 and the 6161 versions installed for FSX.

Stuttering is discussed frequently in this forum. It's a common problem with FSX.
