August 7, 201411 yr Commercial Member Hi often FSX freezes after a while on Windows 8.1. I cannot even fire up task manager to close it. - why, what to do - how to close fsx with task manager etc. Thanks
August 7, 201411 yr Maybe try lowering your settings in FSX. Traffic , graphics, etc.I have Booster and Fiber Accelerator and it really helps.
August 7, 201411 yr Sounds more like a hardware lockup issue. Overheating or bad bios settings perhaps. Also, try running FSX in Win7 compatibility mode with Run as Admin set.
August 7, 201411 yr - how to close fsx with task manager etc. Right click on Taskbar > Start Task Manager > Select Microsoft Flight Simulator X > End Task. Rishab Kumar

August 7, 201411 yr Author Commercial Member PS: compatibility mode seems to have fixed it indeed. Lucky me.- Any ideas on AA? I've set in Nvidia settings to enhance AA but am still not very happy with the result. yes sure I know how to use task manager. The problem is that it hides or whatever behind fsx. fsx fills the whole screen and I only can reboot. I cannot click anything in task manager but reboot. Sigh this obsolete cra* proprietary stuff. As soon as I can run perfectly fsx on wine I'll trash win8. No overheating after only 2-3 minutes...I'll try compatibility mode now.
