August 11, 201411 yr I know that P3D hasnt got the best water, but what I see on pictures and videos from others and what I see in my sim, is still quite a difference. I'm using REX4TD for textures and I got my settings in P3D for tessellation/Resolution/water detail/etc pretty high (even tried all at ultra), but the difference is huge. Rex4 Medium Default The color, as I see it on the textures in REX, for inland water should be brown-ish/grey-ish, but in the sim it's blue like the sea textures, with green spots. Also every wave animation is very large, like there are 2 foot high waves in a small stream of water. I also dont get the white reflections on the waves, as I see from others. I tried the bright textures from REX, but than the water gets so light that inland water almost looks like the tropical textures. I tried the dark textures, but than they get so dark most detail is lost. Could someone who's using REX4, who has (reasonably) good water in P3Dv2 post their settings and/or 'tricks' they use, so I got a baseline from where to start, please? Cheers! Maarten
August 11, 201411 yr I fought with this same issue in FSX. In regard to the water color and REX, you would need some kind of water landclass for it to work correctly. I get the same thing, tropical water colors on the atlantic coast and inland rivers. Until Rex adds the feature to customize the water colors its just the way its gonna be. I along with others have posted on rex forums begging for this feature. In FSX I used the water landclass from UTX but Im not sure if its compatible with P3D.

August 12, 201411 yr Author Great to hear REX water colors are gonna be customizable again! But far as the textures go, I understand that REX only puts the textures in the P3D folder and P3D places them into the sim. So sea water texture for inland water would be something P3D does... But looking at the pictures from, say the advertisements from FTX Open LC, the water isnt perfect, but already a whole lot better than mine. So at this moment there must be a way to improve my water a whole lot already. More is (in this case) always better, of course, but how do I get my water to look like, for example, the FTX advertisements? Cheers! Maarten
