March 28, 200521 yr Just watched it last night. What kind of bird is that and has anyone seen a download for it?
March 28, 200521 yr I have not seen the remake but in the original movie I believe that it was a C-119. R-
March 28, 200521 yr Category: Flight Simulator 2004 - Original AircraftNow you can fly the plane from Fox Studios new release, the remake of Flight of the Phoenix. Back in November of 2003, I had the pleasure and honor of being contacted by Fox Studios to do a repaint of Daisuke Yamamoto's C-119 for them. Understandably, I was not permitted to upload the repaint until after the release of the movie. Well, that time has now come and here it is. I have had the pleasure of seeing the movie and if nothing else, the effects of the flight and crash in the desert are well worth the seeing. I still prefer the original movie with James Stewart over Dennis Quaid, but then, I'm from the older generation. Enjoy! March 28, 200521 yr There is a C-119 in the library painted in the colors of the movie's aircraft by Heather Sherman. In fact she was commissioned to do it by Fox Studios. Look for phx2k4.zip.
March 28, 200521 yr Thx guys,That's it alright... d/l now. Looks like Heather did a nice job with this. Sure looks like a "seat of the pants" type tin can. Should be fun. Nice feather in Heather's hat to be tapped by FOX.
March 28, 200521 yr The original Jimmy Stewart movie had a C-82 Packet as the plane. The remake had a C-119 Flying Boxcar. Both made by Fairchild. Daisuke Yamamoto made an excellent freeware C-119. Check the lib to find it.Eric AND
March 29, 200521 yr Hello all,Eric,I do believe you are correct on the aircraft, and it is really great that they contacted Heather to do a repaint of it . . . nice to see someone from our group get some 'kudo's'. And I, like Heather, like the Jimmy Stewart version better.Best,Clayhttp://www.dreamfleet2000.com/gfx/images/F...ers/Dopke01.jpgClayton T. Dopke (Clay)Major, USAF (retired)"Drac"
March 29, 200521 yr Personally I thought this latest version was crap. While some cool flying stuff, the original movie was good for one reason. The perfect casting of the men and the character study of what happens to them when faced with almost certain death. This latest version was turned into almost an action adventure flick and to me wasn't worth going to the theatre for. I can still watch the old version over and over, a true classic. I hate it when Hollywood does this to great movies.Hornit
