August 20, 201411 yr I'm currently trying to reinstall the 777 after numerous freezing issues. Should I reinstall Ops Center in addition? I also have the NGX and JS4100, and don't want to screw anything up with those planes by messing with Ops Center if it's not necessary. Ethan Edelson
August 21, 201411 yr Mmmm.... I would do so but I do not have the 737NGX or the J41 installed either at the moment. Nor do I have any liveries in use for the 777 other than the default ones from PMDG. So nothing I could mess up. I think PMDG would answere that an Ops Center reinstall/update will not mess up anything if it is done right. You want to read the manual on that, but I think "doing it right" only means that you run the OC once before and once after the update. The best thing you can do before any update or install is to make an image backup of your system as it is now. Win7 has a build in imaging tool that does a real good job at that! This way, if after the update things are screwed up, with the NGX or J41, you can just overwrite all with the image you took and you will be right back where you are now. I recently wrote somewhere how to take an image but dont remember where I posted it. Ask and I will dig harder to find it. EDIT: found it. Here at post #27: http://forum.avsim.net/topic/448200-please-help-with-my-oom/page-2 As for your freezes.....have you tried all other things to fix/reduce freezes? There are quite a few threads about freezes! I found that putting less load on the CPU reduces freezes. You can do this by reducing (or turning it off for a test) AI traffic, or by reducing FSX graphics settings or by moving other software you have running parallel to FSX away from core 0, etc. Rob Robson

As part of the beta process, we had to wipe the 777 off completely and reinstall it. Getting rid of the OC wasn't part of that process. Kyle Rodgers

I still haven't re-installed yet, but will keep Ops Center in place when I do so. Rob, I have recent backups to fall back on, but I do appreciate you linking me that information. I've noticed CPU usage coincides with freezes as well, and have tried to reduce settings but I've also had freezes occur due to changing back and forth from spot view or going in/out of window mode. I don't mean the 1-3 second freezes, (though I am having those too) but rather the unrecoverable freezes that make FSX unresponsive until I forcibly end the task. I am also having OOMs on flights I previously wasn't, so hoping a fresh install might help all these issues simultaneously. When it works, it's quite a sublime experience. My last successful flight departed from LAX at sunset and between the gorgeous visuals, fully lighted cockpit, wx radar, and totally convincing flight dynamics, it was one of the most immersive experiences I have had yet in simulator... but never made it to destination. Gotta keep trying though. Ethan Edelson
