August 20, 201411 yr Hi, I've recently had the problem where my FSX would just freeze, bring up the loading mouse pointer symbol and then bring up a fatal error message, causing the game to crash. This is the crash report: - <Event xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/win/2004/08/events/event"> - <System> <Provider Name="Application Error" /> <EventID Qualifiers="0">1000</EventID> <Level>2</Level> <Task>100</Task> <Keywords>0x80000000000000</Keywords> <TimeCreated SystemTime="2014-08-20T22:20:47.000000000Z" /> <EventRecordID>896138</EventRecordID> <Channel>Application</Channel> <Computer>Alex-PC</Computer> <Security /> </System> - <EventData> <Data>fsx.exe</Data> <Data>10.0.61637.0</Data> <Data>46fadb14</Data> <Data>g2d.dll</Data> <Data>10.0.61637.0</Data> <Data>46fadb58</Data> <Data>c0000005</Data> <Data>0001de63</Data> <Data>334</Data> <Data>01cfbcb7cb88b5d8</Data> <Data>C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\fsx.exe</Data> <Data>C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\g2d.dll</Data> <Data>3b94650c-28b8-11e4-82bd-f6805972e1c9</Data> <Data /> <Data /> </EventData> </Event> Looking at the crash report I notice a new error as my other crash reports did not have the g2d.dll. Also, I do have a Uiautomation installed to FSX. Anyhelp available?
August 21, 201411 yr Looking at the crash report I notice a new error as my other crash reports did not have the g2d.dll. You'll have to post those crashes too. I would move the uiautomationcore.dll out of your main fsx directory and put it in a temporary folder to see if that fixes the problem. Here's what the AVSIM CTD Guide has to say about the g2d.dll error: G2D.dll - The g2d.dll is indicated as the faulting module in the crash report. This module handles plain text messages, like the frame rate counter and those other plain text messages you see periodically while running FSX and the plain text words in the FSX Menu, like the words Options, View, etc. There may be something corrupted in your dll.xml which loads menu items. It has been fixed by rebuilding the FSX.cfg (deleting or renaming the FSX.cfg and then restarting FSX). Some others have fixed this problem by uninstalling/reinstalling the video card drivers or going back to a previous version. Best regards, Jim Young | AVSIM Online! - Simming's Premier Resource! August 22, 201411 yr Author Hi, I have taken out the uiautomation.dll. Also, with FSX I run the PMDG NGX 737, FSPassengers, Orbx Global and Rex, are there any known issues with this due to the fact I had no crashes of this nature before I had the PMDG 737? Cheers
August 22, 201411 yr The uiautomationcore.dll is not the "holy grail" of fixing FSX crashes. You can look in this forum and you will find hundreds of individuals who removed their uiautomationcore.dll from the main fsx directory and their crashes stopped. For others, it is essential that one of the two old versions be added to the main fsx directory. I have never had the requirement for the dll and I have been using FSX since it was first released. The uiautomationcore.dll is part of the Microsoft.net framework packages. Microsoft.net is used by developers to make sure their product runs properly. The AVSIM CTD Guide provides more information regarding Microsoft.net. According to computer experts in the flight simulation world, the uiautomationcore.dll in the main fsx folder only fixes one problem: freezes after right clicking on clicking on the FSX menu more than 20 times. I personally have tried to even replicate this crash but have been unsuccessful so I personally think it is a system configuration issue. Make sure the main FSX folder is shared with everyone and make sure the folders belonging to addons to FSX are also shared. This way fsx can communicate with your addons and vice-versa. August 22, 201411 yr I had frequent freezes and FSX crashes. After updating UIautomationcore.dll and RadeonPro (www.radeonpro.info) FSX is stable like a tank. Briefly about my rig: I have FSX Deluxe + Acceleration (DX10 preview) on Win 7 64 Ultimate, Asus Crosshair V, AMD 1100TBE @ 4GHz, 16 GB RAM, Asus HD 6970 with 4 screens, cockpit hardware (Yoke, rudder, joystick, etc) + tons of addons (commercial and freeware). I did some well known tweeks in fsx.cfg and shader fixer (the freeware one found at AVSIM) to squize max performance of my rather not FSX friendly hardware. I have installed: PMDG 737NGX, 777-200LR,F, 747, J4100, Majestic Q-400, ConcordeX, PassengersX, REX, GEX, ORBX GLOBAL+Vectors, FSUIPC, and more.
August 22, 201411 yr Author Hi, I'm going to test it out tonight and ill let you know how it goes without the UIautomation.dll. I only need the menu about 2-3 times at the start and 1 and the end of my flights, and I may remove the key binding for the right click menu to another button as it have a joystick button for changing views. Lets hope it goes well. Cheers
August 23, 201411 yr Author Hi, Attempted to play FSX without UIautomationcore.dll but to no no avail due to it crashing when setting up a FSpassengers flight. I then tried the same thing with UIautomationcore.dll installed and I got to the same location and duration to when the crash happens and, to no surprise, 'Fatal Error'... Bartow what is this about updating UIautomationcore.dll? My setup is i5-4670k 3.5 to 3.7 ghz , gtx 760 , win 8.1 Anymore ideas/help with this issue?
August 23, 201411 yr Commercial Member I got to the same location and duration to when the crash happens and, to no surprise, 'Fatal Error'... Well it seems you proved UiAutomationcore.dll is not an issue. What happens around the period/location of the crash? Have you got scenery installed for that region that you can try disabled? Steve Waite: Engineer at codelegend.com
August 23, 201411 yr Author Hi, What I said may seem like that but I have already flown there with the scenery and it was figure of speech, with the crash being around the same area and distance away from any flight I do, wherever I go. Cheers.
August 23, 201411 yr Commercial Member Hi, Same Q. What happens after that duration? Do you select a view, or is there a weather update? Do you have any crashes with other games after a certain period of increased CPU/GPU activity? Anything you can think of? Steve Waite: Engineer at codelegend.com
August 23, 201411 yr Author Hi, Usually I either press a button on joystick or mouse or try to change my perspective in the cockpit through ezdok and then it crashes, even after many clicks and key presses before. However, no I cannot think of any other game which crashes on me, just FSX but I suppose it might be a weather update due to the program (FSGRW) updates fairly often, but why would it then and it has never crashed on me before. Cheers.
August 23, 201411 yr Commercial Member Maybe try flying without ezdok for a couple of flights. Steve Waite: Engineer at codelegend.com
August 23, 201411 yr Author Hi, I don't believe it is Ezdok as I have been flying Ezdok for ages and it hsa never crashed on me before. The latest addon would the PMDG 737ngx. Are there any relate issues with g2d.dll and the addon? Cheers
August 23, 201411 yr Commercial Member Well, if it used to be OK but now you get problems, you have to eliminate something to progress with the fault finding. Maybe try another aircraft. Steve Waite: Engineer at codelegend.com
August 24, 201411 yr Author Hi, I believe I have found the issue. I searched around forums to see issues with PMDG 737 and Fspassengers x and there seems there are, with a method of fixing the issue by deleting the missionpanel.cfg. I completed the same flight I have been testing on these past few day for the first time with no crashes or issues. I will do more flights in a later date and hope that this is the fix. Cheers for help
