So far I've been using GNS in aircrafts I mostly use for VFR flights and with setting up the flight plan in the GNS, it all seemed to work just fine.

Only yesterday I loaded up the Carenado B1900D for an IFR flight and to get ATC respond to IFR I created an IFR plan in P3D flight planner and programmed the route on the GNS, but when I opened ATC there were only VFR options there, preventing me from requesting IFR from ATC.

 

Is this the way GNS functions and do I have to use another method for IFR planning to be able to use ATC, or is this a bug in the system I can fix?

It's a flaw in the base sim, nothing can be done about it. Sorry.
