Elevated runways/taxiways at some airports

Featured Replies

Hi Kyle,

I saw, in one of your videos, you landing at an airport with runways that were elevated from the surrounding airfield by what appeared to be 20-30 ft walls, and commenting that you didn't know what caused the effect.

I have just "landed" (read "crashed") at LTBA because of the same symptom.

Did you discover why this is caused?

Cheers, Richard

I often have landed at this airport ( T2G  - LTBA ) , no casualties .

Which video was it?  I'll need to go back and look.

I had the same issue at a different airport after I installed FTX Global Vector, but in reverse. In my case, a good part of the airfield lay under the surrounding terrain. Within the FTX Vector Configurator utility, there's a tab for airport elevation corrections. Running the auto-configuration solved the problem for Maui in my case

I hope this is your issue as well and that you're able to resolve it.

Best,

@Walter,

Many thanks for your suggestion. I shall certainly try it.

@Kyle,

I am accusing you of something that you didn't do! Apologies.

I now remember that it was Froogle Pete. I shall ask in his forum.

I just saw something really weird while going thru the drzwecki forums.

(they dont know what is either)

Is your crash landing anything like that Richard?

Hi! This my video. I have a problem when landing on 04L, on other runways everything is normal. I tested landing to 737NGX-everything normally. I had the same problem in the scenery Heraklion aerosoft. From addon scenery there are only these, FTX aren't used.

P.S. Sorry for my English

I hope you are ok with your video showing up here?

All I did actually was copy/paste the link here but for some reason the whole video is embedded now.

I edited it like five times but no way to just post the link :-(

Kind of funny this posting on AVSIM as I can not even post pictures here no matter how hard I try, but I can post videos it seems?!

Anyway, maybe what you are seeing has something to do the with the Aircraft Bouncing effect the PMDG777 suffers from.

(See PMDG777 Introduction manual page 17 and page 40)

I would suggest trying an FSX mesh sesolution setting of 19m or more and see if that helps.

No need to apologize.  I'll take being mistaken for Pete as a compliment  :P

Everything is normal, on the contrary I am glad that saw my problem not only at one forum. Thanks, I will try to take your advice

Hi Richard....you still following this thread?

You should try raising mesh resolution to 19m or more and see if it help you as well.

Or did you fix you problem some other way?
