A few times, I have accidentally tripped off the auto pilot. Normally not a problem, but in the 777, I cannot turn it back on. The AP button will take no action.  Is there something unique about this aircraft in that regard?

 

 

A few times, I have accidentally tripped off the auto pilot. Normally not a problem, but in the 777, I cannot turn it back on. The AP button will take no action.  Is there something unique about this aircraft in that regard?

It is in the manuals. Basically, you need to press twice to properly DISCONNECT the AP, and then a third press will re-connect it but only if the controls are neutral. (Wont engage if you are still holding the controls by hand)
