i have to reinstall my video drivers every time if i wanna start FSX

HELP!!

I don't know what to do anymore.

If i wanna play FSX, i start up my computer, then i have to install my video drivers, and then i can start FSX. As long as my computer is on, i can start and shut down FSX and start it again. No problem there.

But if i shut my computer down, and maybe in the evening start it again to play FSX, i have to do it all over again.

I have no idea why! I really hope someone here will be able to help me!!

Thanks already in advance

I have a Win7 operating system and a ATI EAH6850 videocard

What makes you want to re-install your video drivers?

That should not be required.

He probably gets a message says something like "your video drivers are not installed correctly" and FSX refuses to run. I've seen that with a bad SSD that "repaired" itself during boot up, losing previous changes to drivers and settings, eventually failing altogether.

I get a fatal error, when i start FSX. I just assumed that it was the video-drivers, reinstalled them, en then fsx worked. But only until i shut down my computer. Then i have to do it again

Did you look in your Event Log to see what the faulting module was.  I'm guessing it's the

error for ATI drivers being the cause.  Have you installed the latest version for

your card?  The log error was  atiumdag.dll

where can i find that error message in my event log?

  • Administrators

Control Panel-> Administrative Tools-> Event Viewer, select Custom Views-> Administrative Events.
One of the listed events will be for your CTD. The "Faulting Module" should point to the problem area.

Tell us what the Faulting Module is! That will point us in the direction of the proper error, aiding in troubleshooting.

Below is just an example of what you will see!

General Tab:
Faulting application name: fsx.exe, version: 10.0.61637.0, time stamp: 0x46fadb14
Faulting module name: This is what we need to Know!
Exception code: 0xc0000005
Fault offset: 0x0000ee3a
Faulting process id: 0x748
Faulting application start time: 0x01ce0253dc4b69d4
Faulting application path: R:\FSX\fsx.exe
Faulting module path: R:\FSX\window.dll
Report Id: 9caf77b4-6e50-11e2-8570-3085a99825d1

If there is not one listed:
Faulting module name: unknown, version: 0.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x00000000,
you will need to do as previously noted

No Faulting Module? ->
Remove all of the add-ons, and test the sim. If it works OK, then reinstall them one at a time and test.
Be sure to test each thoroughly before moving on to the next

With the Faulting Module being unknown then I suggest using the AVSIM CTD site.

Also start with this thread.  http://forum.avsim.net/topic/407137-fsx-has-stopped-working-faulting-module-name-unknown/
