Chicago flights stopped after fire at FAA facility - CNN.com

 

I understand grounding flights at ORD and MDW.  However, what about flights at cruising altitude flying through the Great Lakes Region?  Would they still be able to pick up Indy, Minneapolis, or KC?  

Reroutes in place due to this mornings fire.

So how secure and hardened are our major air traffic control centers?

 

The unintended no fly zone around Chicago due the outage was dramatic and big.
