October 7, 201411 yr I was thinking about getting FS Global Ultimate and I've got a couple of questions. To start with, how is the impact of this package on P3D2.4? I'm running a good 30FPS in most cases, on a i7-4770k @ 4.2GHz, on a Z87, with GTX770 4GB, 8GB DDR3 @ 1800MHz and 2 SSD discs. Since it's a pretty standard setup, could someone with something comparable give me some insight on what kind of strain FSGU would bring to my system? FPS drop, chance for blurries, etc... I always installed FSG2010 on a separate hard disc and installed it from there in P3D, can do FSGU the same, or do I need to install the whole thing directly on my P3D disc? How much extra data should I count on to be installed on my P3D disc? I've got FSG2010 for FTX version, I guess they've done this with a reason, while FSGU doesnt have an FTX version. Is FSGU fully compatible with FTX Global/Vector/OpeLC, or might I expect some problem and if so, are they hard to overcome? I'm not sure if I'd buy all 3 packs at once, I think I want to see the results first and in that case, can I combine FSGU with FS2010 to cover the parts outside the FSGU region to start with? Cheers! Maarten
October 7, 201411 yr I haven't noticed any performance issues with their Orbx FTX Edition Mesh (using Orbx Vector Configurator to adjust airport elevations as needed). If you do get some strange elevation issues, suggest you try to set the Mesh to 5m. Cheers, Rob.
October 16, 201411 yr I've seen no noticeable impact on performance from FS Global Mesh and I have mesh set to 1m in P3d, so I can get decent wave action. I think what Rob is referring to is that some ORBX airports need to have the mesh set at 5 m or they don't look too good. I've never seen that problem, but the only ORBX regions that I have are PNW and NCA .

Since it's a pretty standard setup, could someone with something comparable give me some insight on what kind of strain FSGU would bring to my system? FPS drop, chance for blurries, etc... There is an impact as, with a finer mesh, there are more triangles to push but it is not noticeable. This is a primary job a graphic card after all. I always installed FSG2010 on a separate hard disc and installed it from there in P3D, can do FSGU the same, or do I need to install the whole thing directly on my P3D disc? How much extra data should I count on to be installed on my P3D disc? 100 Gb (yes one hundred Gb) for the whole world, installed on the same SSD to get the benefit of the loading speed. I've got FSG2010 for FTX version, I guess they've done this with a reason, while FSGU doesnt have an FTX version. Is FSGU fully compatible with FTX Global/Vector/OpeLC, or might I expect some problem and if so, are they hard to overcome? I don't have Vector or OpenLC. To get an idea of potential glitches, browse the Vector & OpenLC support forums at OrbX. I'm not sure if I'd buy all 3 packs at once, I think I want to see the results first and in that case, can I combine FSGU with FS2010 to cover the parts outside the FSGU region to start with? I bought them all because the bundle was discounted. A miserable excuse .
