so after reading about the gtx 970 beating the gtx 780. i am now planning to retire my gtx 660 and replace with the new gtx 970. will my performance increase on FSX? by the way heres my other specs:

 

i7 4770 non k

8gb ram single stick

1tb 7200rpm single

I would say so yes, especially if you like plenty of anti aliasing.

I would say not really.

In my opinion, you wouldn´t get more fps but you will have nice pictures because of AA.

 I LOVE ANTI ALIASING especially SGSS my sim looks sharp when SGSS is enabled.

I have (had) a GTX 580, which according to the benchmarks has similar performance to the 970. I blew it and replaced it temporarily with a GTX 650ti and the difference is very noticeable in terms of stutters, fps, and overall smoothness. Take it with a grain of salt because all system are different but I would think you'll be pleased.
