DX10 blurry and OOM Problems

Recommended Posts

Hello friends,

I built a pc to fly on fsx smother and better but since i got my pc i am having problems with mainly out of memory. I searched and find out dx10 could have help me to solve oom problem, and started to use steve's fixer, but in this i have oom errors plus blurry textures. I use fs global, ground environment and rex. Can someone help me to fix these problems, here is my pc specs and fsx.cfg? thanks.

Have you tuned your OS? Any services and apps not needed to run FSX should be disabled.

Your affinity mask is perplexing. Hyper Threading is enabled yet the logical cores aren't being used. Try an AM of 204 or 252.

AA in the Fixer is very high. For testing (to resolve the blurries and possibly OOM's) try 4x or 8x.

Try 2x High Water

Freeway Density, Leisure Boats, and Ships & Ferries are all very high. For testing set them all at 0 then increase slowly.  Freeway density is very system intensive.

Try Texture_Max_Load at 1024 for testing.

The Proc Speed in your .cfg is very low for a system with your power (revealing that FSX doesn't think your system has much cajones).  My core i5 3570K/GTX 770 running at 4.4 GHz yields a proc speed of 19220... yours should be over 20000.  Try setting a better AM, then allow FSX to make a new .cfg.

First of all thank you for your answers. I tried your suggestions.I lowered aa to 8x, set am to 254, and proc speed 21000. I couldn't test for oom but no fix for blurries.

Did you set the 21000 proc speed, or did you allow the sim to rebuild the fsx.cfg?  For tackling the blurries a strong approach is to turn things down until they are gone, then start adding to the graphics settings (testing after each adjustment... patience is a virtue here).  If this doesn't do anything for your blurries issue then you really should start considering a OS or hardware configuration problem.  You have a strong system and it should offer good performance.

Your suggestions are solved performance problem but I have still have blurries. How can i solve blurries? Thank you for your help.

I set 21000 because when i let fsx to set it, it sets to 11012

Ahh, the problem is OS/Hardware related.  Stop doing any tweaking/troubleshooting with FSX... it ain't your problem.  Start with making sure the system drivers are up to date and properly installed (check the Windows Device Manager for any anomalies).  Pay special attention to your motherboard chipset drivers.

You have a very strong system that once properly tuned will give you a great sim experience.  You just gotta get it sorted.

To gauge the success of your work simply have FSX rebuild the fsx.cfg after you've done any work on the OS and/or hardware.  Check that proc speed in fsx.cfg... properly tuned and running at its best your system should yield a proc speed of over 20000.

Good luck,

Greg

"procspeed" is set by FSX on its first startup. It is its base perception of "how strong is this system?", and was used by the Microsoft dev team as a rough measure of that. It serves no other purpose in FSX - it doesn't get used at all, except by a few folks who use it in that manner. A number above the 14000's indicates the user has "HT OFF", while a number below that approximate number - indicates "HT is ON". A high number for HT ON would be 12000 or so: HT OFF on a hot system will show as 20000 - 22000.  If erased - FSX will remake it - it will be close to the previous number most of the time.

Here are examples from mine:-

//ProcSpeed=20814  - taken when using the GTX 580

//ProcSpeed=21141  - taken when using the GTX 780

//ProcSpeed=20657

//ProcSpeed=11673   //  HT ON

//ProcSpeed=19708   //  HT OFF

//ProcSpeed=20266  - last one using the 2600K/780

Re-post the new config, yildrim - let's take a look - and post a pic of your Inspector settings too.

I think you need to follow post # 6, yildrim. I can't help you if you don't.

Here's a slightly revised Inspector, as the one I posted lacked any SGSS Texture Filtering - LOD Bias(DX)

All the best,

pj

I thought I did. But I should have applied the settings from somewhere else, today when I get home I will change them with yours.

I reset nvidia inspector settings as you suggested. I made a flight and fps is OK but still have blurry textures. Here my cfg and setting file. I am really thankful to you for helping me with my problems :)

Hi Yildim:

All I see which you might change, at this moment, in order to alleviate load issues, are the settings below.

You can always move them up, once this blurring is fixed. I (and others!) would like to see a screenshot or two, as well.

8xCSAA in the Fixer, I normally run 4x, and recommend changing to that.

Maximized=2, under [Main] instead of 1,

WideViewAspect should equal "True", as 1920 x 1080 is wide-view.

WATER_EFFECTS=6, under [TERRAIN], ought to be a 5.

You might add SmallPartRejectRadius=4 under [scenery]

CLOUD_DRAW_DISTANCE=6, under [Weather], should not be greater than 3 for most systems.

You could also drop MESH_RESOLUTION=24 down to 23.

When you're trying to fix an issue like this one, where it may well be a graphics load which is causing it - one should always reduce settings to the very minimum. If that fixes the issue, then you can raise the ones you like to see, a touch at a time. If everything is high, how can you possibly know which one has the bad effect? At this moment your FSX should not have blurries, and as Greg suggested - you might have hardware problems. How old is the monitor? Is it a TV or a PC monitor? Is it running at it's native resolution? Lastly - check with Nick's 4790K Overclocking guide, (link in my sig) with the aim of seeing where you might improve a bios setting. Memory has much more impact than it did on the older processors - it's also very much more configrable. too - ok?

All the best,

My monitor is ASUS VN247H and i overclocked my machine with ASUS software AI Suite as my motherboard Asus ROG VII Rampage. Here three pictures of my fsx. I don't understand this problem, everything else, clouds, aircraft textures, and also other PC games like Assasin's Creed, etc are good but ground textures are just looks like can't be loaded properly. I use FTX and GEX by the way :)

Neither pic is adequate to demonstrate blurring, Yildrim. It is not apparent in night shots, nor in a top-down pic. Blurring happens when looking out of the cockpit/flight deck window, toward the ground, in the area around and under the aircraft.: the houses and buildings will appear normal, but the streets and general ground area will become a mauve/purple-ish looking "mud", with no definition at all.

Yes, you are right. Airport terminals, city buildings seems ok but how to solve this "mud" streets and ground. Do you have any idea?

Put your FIBER_FRAME_TIME_FRACTION up to 0.15 instead of 0.11, might help with the blurries. As far as I realized on my system, FFTF values that low together with unlimited frame rates in the FSX.cfg always results in blurries quiet fast. So I would go for this:

[Display]

UPPER_FRAMERATE_LIMIT=32

and

[Main]
FIBER_FRAME_TIME_FRACTION=0.15

together with the recommendations from Paul regarding nVidia Inspector etc.

And, regarding your resolution, you should also enable this:

[Display]
WideViewAspect=True

Besides that, I do simply not get why you continuously ignore the fact that those four entries you STILL have in your FSX.cfg:

AIRPORT_SCENERY_DENSITY=3
FreewayDensity=69
LeisureBoatsDensity=67
ShipsAndFerriesDensity=69

completely ruins your performance. Check again Paul's recommendations regarding those entries and CHANGE them now. We can't help you getting rid of your blurries if you constantly ignore half of the posts...
