November 25, 201411 yr Moderator Is it possible for someone to buy gift vouchers for FS software? The whole process seems to revolve around the user rather than anyone else. It would make life so much easier for family if they could buy me some scenery for my hobby rather than just hand over cash. Does anyone know if any of the FS retailers sells gift vouchers? November 25, 201411 yr So does PC Aviator Australia - see "Gift Certificates" on the left side of the home page. Gary
November 26, 201411 yr Author Moderator Gary, What's the link to the Australia store? I'm using the default American one - pcaviator.com - and Gift Certificates doesn't appear. November 26, 201411 yr Author Moderator Thanks Olli. It's funny. I had an email from them a couple of weeks ago saying that as I hadn't bought anything in a while they were attaching a 10% off voucher. I was initially confused as I've bought loads from PCAviator but it sounds like the Oz and US businesses are separate entities who don't share customer info. I was able to use the voucher on the US site without problem. But as the Oz one has Gift Vouchers I will definitely point my nephew to that one. Thanks all. Ray (Cheshire, England). November 26, 201411 yr Yep, had the odd 10% voucher from the U.S. store myself. Could be combined with a 10% off Tuesday. That accumulation and the "missing" VAT - PFPX has never been cheaper! What happened to AVSIM
November 26, 201411 yr Author Moderator I've had some great bargains using the same Tuesday offer. No VAT can't last forever but for now it's a great place to shop. Ray (Cheshire, England). November 26, 201411 yr I got the a similar email to Ray, saying that their records indicated that I had not bought anything for over a year when, in fact, my then most recent purchase from the US store had been only three months earlier! The email was from the US store, not the Australian, and offered me a significantly higher discount. I buy most of my flight sim products from the Australian store (usually on a weekly basis) where Dean gives top-notch service (including quick telephone and email contact). I only go elsewhere when PC Aviator Australia does not have the product I want. Although the US and Australian stores have the same ownership, they are differently managed. About 90% of products are common to both stores. Some prices are numerically the same despite lack of parity between the Australian and US dollars. Other prices are sometimes lower in one place than in the other (as a comparison after taking into account currency conversion). The Specials are not always identical. Both have 10% off on Tuesdays. Because of the time differences between the locations of the two stores, by picking and choosing between stores depending on the time, this can translate to almost a two day 10% off period each week being available.
November 26, 201411 yr Those differences between the two shops were unexpected to me: AUS offers one SIM720 airport more than U.S.; can't really explain that. What happened to AVSIM
November 26, 201411 yr Author Moderator Gartro makes some interesting points. I now remember I bought FTX Global from the Oz store but everything else I've bought from the US one. It wasn't a deliberate decision to only use the US store. It just so happens that was the one I bookmarked. But given the time difference between the two sites it does offer a wider window to take advantage of 10% Tuesday. The price difference is worth watching too dependent on how well the pound sterling is doing against the 2 currencies. But if they're both under the same ownership why is the Oz store the only one that offers vouchers? Ray (Cheshire, England). December 4, 201411 yr I don't know the answer to Ray's last question but a subsidiary question might be "Why have the Mega Deals disappeared from the PC Aviator US store's website in the last day or so but are still available at the Australian store?".
