Quick FSEconomy question

Recommended Posts

Are there (still) any FSEconomy users here?

I've got a quick question:

What's the biggest airplane available in FSE?

There's no official list on their page and the biggest aircraft that was mentioned in all FSE discussions that I've skimmed through was the (default) DC-3.

So any chance to fly something as big as a, say, J41, Fokker 27, ATR42 or Metroliner in it?

I understand that FSE isn't geared towards airline-like flying, but still...would be nice to know before I jump in.

I fly FSE almost exclusively.

You can hire and own C-130s, Electra's, Viscounts, BAE-146s and the like, and also fly jets from B737 up to DC-8/40 on 'all-in' jobs where you effectively hire on as a contract pilot.

All of the planes you mention are supported and very useful in FSE.

Almost everything is possible...

I'll post a list

Cheers

Keith

Thank you very much, Keith!

So I guess airline-like operations are possible. Is the mission generation tailored to the airplane so that I, say, won't have to take 5 passengers in a 737-200 from LAX to InTheMiddleOfNowhere Municipal?

Yes, the "all-in" jobs for airliners have a reasonable number of PAX and go to an appropriate airport at a reasonable distance.

The pay for all-in jobs is low though - it's possible to make a lot more by flying multiple passenger and freight jobs in a big plane (like an Electra).

On the other hands it's difficult to fill a big plane and it's easy to lose money flying one half empty, the pay for an all-in is guaranteed so long as you get there.

Give it a go, you'll soon pick it up.

Cheers

It's inevitable to pick up FSE as FSPax doesn't run FSXSE and I don't really want to invest the $$ for a new tool. :)

Some people have got FSEconomy to work with FS-SE, others have had problems getting the right Simconnect version...but it does work.

Very different to FSPassengers though

The aircraft you listed are plenty reasonable to fly in FSE. As Keith said, you can fly B738 and A321s but they are all in jobs and you are basically a contract pilot. It is not possible for you to own the aircraft of fly assignments of your choice on them. The assignments for those aircraft are predetermined and personally I don't enjoy flying them, but some do. Personally I own a Beechcraft Bonanza A36 and a Beechcraft KA 350 and enjoy flying them all over the US. My B350 is especially good at making money, it can carry a decent number of passengers or cargo and has a good range.

Well, as long as I can freely choose the livery I can fly with (FSPax is very restrictive in that regard) and as long as the pax aren't as wussy, I won't mind if I'm "just" a contract pilot.

And I hope that there won't be an annoying FA in FSE. No, darling, I'm not married and if you're bored, go count plates in the galley! *Groan*

Still waiting for my game world account, but that's to be expected due to the holidays.

You can fly any livery you want and the FSE program doesn't have a FA and the passengers don't care if you slam your aircraft into the ground on landing, they just want to get to their destination :). FSE is a lot of fun, especially when you save up enough to buy your first aircraft.

Congrats, enjoy! And if you are looking for some flying around SoCal there is a VERY fine Beechcraft Bonanza A36 sitting at KBUR for rent

C208s are always good aircraft for FSE. They are pretty cheap to rent, can be found all over the place, and can carry a good amount of passengers/cargo. I have done lots of assignments in C208s on FSE, good little aircraft.

Did my first assignment last night, short 50 mile hop. Got me a profit of some $3500 or so. Thought I was king of the world until I checked the purchase prices for some, umm...proper sized planes. YIKES!

There is really not much advantage to purchasing.
