December 23, 201411 yr I took the plunge and purchased FSX:SE at 50% discount, just to have access to any further updates. I was wondering, if one installs FSX:SE alongside existing FSX (dual install), is it possible to run MCE with FSX:SE? Also does anyone know if RC4 works too with FSX:SE? Does one need to change any config settings or since both are started once FSX:SE is running would they automatically work? Cheers Stuart
December 24, 201411 yr +1 curious about MCE and FSX SE interoperability. Also, to OP, I've given up on the very brilliant but very legacy RC4 just recently.
December 27, 201411 yr Author Just received following response from Ben at FS++ team: Quote MCE doesn’t use Simconnect, it interfaces FSX directly. You should be able to use a side by side installation without even re-installing MCE. However, for now, you must manually... Copy fsInsider.dll from FSX installation folder to FSX-SE installation folder Copy <MCE dlls> from FSX installation folder to FSX-SE installation folder. Copy “”dll.xml” from C:\Users\your_user_name\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX\ folder to C:\Users\your_user_name\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX-SE\ folder. After that, should work just like with FSX. Needless to say, the installers will be updated later on to take into consideration side by side installations. Confirm up and running. Addendum... The one thing that could be broken is MCE-GSX interaction. MCE needs to find out where to read the green bar in order to listen to GSX messages. And that changes between different compilations of FSX code. Ben The FS++ team Unquote PS....Note the above has not yet been verified by either the FS++ team or by myself, so if anyone running FSX:SE and MCE could confirm, as I am still away for the holidays.
