January 11, 201511 yr Last used fs9 on xp. Would appreciate any info on proper install on Windows 7 Home Premium. Have done google searches with confusing results. Thanks in advance
January 11, 201511 yr My advice is to either create a new folder in the C drive and install it there or create a new volume , and create a new folder within and install it there. Don't install it in the default C drive program files (x86 ) location. I am sure someone will come along and tell you you can install it fine in the default location. But you do not want to get 2 years down the road and have permission issues with an addon. After instillation make sure to download and run the 9.1 update, it is still available from Microsoft. The update and any other addons should be installed ideally with UAC and antivirus programs turned off, and run any installers by right clicking and select "run as administrator". Peter Schluter
January 11, 201511 yr Installs normally into Win7 or Win7/64 and runs better too! Only two important things to remember, 1) Do not follow the recommended install folder [Program Files (86)] Install to C:Flight Simulator 9 or to another drive entirely. This procedure being necessary due to Win 7' security measures. You could also elect to 'run (FS9) as administrator.' 2) Upgrade FS9 to version 9.1 after running FS9, at least once, in its 'vanilla' state. PS I see Peter beat me to it!
