May 21, 200521 yr After installing a CH Throttle quadrant, which works great, my slew mode (Y key) now spins me round 360 deg at up to 20,000 knots and I am in lower space with it. What happened?!Appreciate any assistance, thanks.JS Jonathan Sacks Dell XPS Gen 4, Pentium IV Northwood extreme 3.8Ghz, 3Ghz RAM, eVGA 7900 GTO, 12 GoFlight modules plus MCP-PRO AP and EFIS, GF pedestal, CH rudder pedals, CH throttle quadrant, 42" LG LED, 24" DELL LCD, Windows XP, FS2004, FSUIPC 3.96 FS Autostart 1.1 (Build 11), FS Navigator 4.6, UT, FE, GE, REX, PMDG, Level-D, PSS, etc.
May 21, 200521 yr Its because you have an axis assigned in slew mode. Go into assignments, CH Throttle, Slew Mode and delete any assigned axis. This will fix the problem.Mark. Mark CYYZ
May 21, 200521 yr Author OK, thanks I shall try that and report back.JS Jonathan Sacks Dell XPS Gen 4, Pentium IV Northwood extreme 3.8Ghz, 3Ghz RAM, eVGA 7900 GTO, 12 GoFlight modules plus MCP-PRO AP and EFIS, GF pedestal, CH rudder pedals, CH throttle quadrant, 42" LG LED, 24" DELL LCD, Windows XP, FS2004, FSUIPC 3.96 FS Autostart 1.1 (Build 11), FS Navigator 4.6, UT, FE, GE, REX, PMDG, Level-D, PSS, etc.
May 22, 200521 yr Hi JS,MarkW is right, the problem is certainly with the slew settings on the TQ. Assignments will be the main problem you'll have with the TQ initially. FS defaults to making the same assignments to the TQ that it would to a 4-axis joystick. Consequently, the levers have ailerons, elevator, throttle, and rudder on them. It can get very confusing, but if you go in and clear the existing assignments and make your own, it should settle down. Also, check the FS Null Zones and Sensitivities dialog and make sure you've got maximum sensitivity and no null zone. FS will default some of the axes to zero sensitivity. It will still let you assign them but they won't have any effect in FS. The Null Zones and Sensitivity screen in FS only seems to show 3 axes when you first look. There really are 6 there, there are scroll bars to get to the others but they just aren't very noticeable. You might want to drop by my web site and pick up a file called CMNOTE02.ZIP on the "File Downloads" page. It has a WordPad .DOC file in it that talks about setting up the quad in FS, particularly for reverse thrust, but the info might be some help in other areas.Best regards,- BobThe StickWorkshttp://www.stickworks.com
May 22, 200521 yr Author Bob:I appreciate your post and zip file. I did actually manage to set the throttle quad up OK with no control manager software and all works great. The only thing that's off is the SLEW mode which I shall try to fix now.You were right about the sensitivities and null zones; an FS colleague showed me that when we were setting the throttle up. Crazy stuff. Well, this is FS, isn't it ?!Thanks!JS Jonathan Sacks Dell XPS Gen 4, Pentium IV Northwood extreme 3.8Ghz, 3Ghz RAM, eVGA 7900 GTO, 12 GoFlight modules plus MCP-PRO AP and EFIS, GF pedestal, CH rudder pedals, CH throttle quadrant, 42" LG LED, 24" DELL LCD, Windows XP, FS2004, FSUIPC 3.96 FS Autostart 1.1 (Build 11), FS Navigator 4.6, UT, FE, GE, REX, PMDG, Level-D, PSS, etc.
May 22, 200521 yr Author Hey Mark:Well,....it worked ! Hallelujah. The Lord of FS is with me tonight !How on earth are mere mortals supposed to figure this out? Thanks a lot! May 22, 200521 yr Author No, no, I DID use FSUIPC 3.47 to configure stuff for the throttle quadrant. Didn't mean to give the impression I used no utility for this stuff!JS Jonathan Sacks Dell XPS Gen 4, Pentium IV Northwood extreme 3.8Ghz, 3Ghz RAM, eVGA 7900 GTO, 12 GoFlight modules plus MCP-PRO AP and EFIS, GF pedestal, CH rudder pedals, CH throttle quadrant, 42" LG LED, 24" DELL LCD, Windows XP, FS2004, FSUIPC 3.96 FS Autostart 1.1 (Build 11), FS Navigator 4.6, UT, FE, GE, REX, PMDG, Level-D, PSS, etc.
May 22, 200521 yr Hi JS,>> No, no, I DID use FSUIPC 3.47 to configure stuff for the throttle quadrant. :( I keep looking, it just seems such a dumb thing for MS not only to have left out but to have actually gone to the trouble to remove it (FS2K+ vs FS98) that I keep hoping I've just missed something obvious.Anyway, thanks for the additional info!Best regards,- BobThe StickWorkshttp://www.stickworks.com
