Sequencing Layers in Scenery Cfg

Featured Replies

I find myself often manually re-arranging the layers in scenery config file. And it is a very tedious process having to make sure the areas and layers are numbered correctly and sequentially. Is there a program that automatically does that?Another question: how do you manage different scenery config from different sceneries. For example: Alaska Cinematic requiresTERRAIN_DEFAULT_RADIUS=40.000000 TERRAIN_EXTENDED_RADIUS=60.000000 whereas Megascenery needsTERRAIN_DEFAULT_RADIUS=9.000000 TERRAIN_EXTENDED_RADIUS=9.000000 M TanYSCB

Howdy,to sort and check the scenery.cfg for errors I use Steve Greenwood's utility available here: http://www.fs-traveler.com/resources-g.shtml (third from top). Those two sets of parameter settings probably lead to identical results in the sim, as the maximum value for both appears to be 9.9; anything above will be interpreted as the maximum setting. Here's a link with some explanations of mine: http://portal.fsgenesis.net/index.php?name...indefaultradiusNevertheless, you usually will need different FS9.cfg settings for photoreal vs. non-photoreal products and thus two or more versions are handy to have. This thread talks about a few options in its last few posts: http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...d=255017&page=3Cheers, Holger

Thanks Holger for the info.It will be great if someone can write a program that swaps parameters in and out depending on what and where you plan to fly. In that way, we can do away with multiple FS9 configs. All we need is to put all preferred parameters from different sceneries in a 'requirements' folder.cheers, M TanYSCB

Flightsim Managerhttp://www.ranainside.com/software_flightsim_manager.htmlwith this you can create scenery sets and swap them in and out with easefor instance put all your Usa scenery in a set and disable it (marks all the sceneries in the set inactive)You can also set up different levels of Flight sim graphic settingsand launch flight sim using these scenarios.too many other things it can do to mention here but its free so worth a look.
