January 28, 201511 yr So far I have the QW 757 and Just Flight A320 installed with Steve's DX10 Fixer. I remember reading that VC shadows will work on all planes now. I can't get it to work on those two add on planes. It only works on default planes. Is there something special I have to do in the Fixer? Nature Boy
January 28, 201511 yr Commercial Member The conditions to get shadows are listed on page 55 of the manual. 1. The FSX option for shadow is selected 2. The aircraft uses the FSX SDK 3. In fsx.cfg (or possibly fsx-se.cfg for a dual steam install) you have set the [DISPLAY] option ForceVCShadowMap=1 4. Force VC Walls is set on You will not get shadows if the plane is surrounded by an box (PMDG 737NGX) or all surfaces use transparency or Its built with an old SDK In the latter case you can enable shadows if you go into the Legacy Dialog and select the Legacy Aircraft Self Shadow although it is recommended that you don't leave this set on. In some cases for legacy aircraft you may need to select the Legacy Force Shadows but this may cause strange shadows on the ground at some airports so use with care. My FSX Analysis Blog
