Flight Environment question

Featured Replies

I just bought Flight Environment and have a question. When you use the FE randomizer do you have to use it every time you start FS9? Or do you randomize it once and then forget about it?

Thanks for buying FE, much appreciated. You can set up the randomize to work like an exe file to start the game. There are 2 modes. First default, out of the box, you hit the randomize exe short cut and it loads a randomized set of eveything. What I like to do is when the next screen comes up click to disable this check screen; then the next time you run randomize it will start the game straight off. That's how some of us use it and that way you get a new variation each time you start the game. Of course you may want to experiment and find which sets you like and don't like and then disable the sets you don't like and then randomize with confidence that it will look the way you want it too. There is a new update coming out soon that will increase the options at which point there will be around 16,000 possible cumulus01.bmp files or cloud sets to keep you busy. I think from memory the version you have at the moment has about 3,000 sets; so there is a big update coming soon and it will be free of charge.Peter (FE Developer)

Thanks for the info :-)I thought that after you run the randomizer for the first time it would randomize every time by it self when I start FS.I was going to find which sets I like first, but there is so many sets to go through I figured it would just be better to do the randomize thing.

Hi there, and also thanks for buying FE. It does auto randomize as long as you start with the randomize short cut instead of the normal FS9 short cut. Think of this as an alternative FS9 exe start up if you like; there will be a slight delay as it creates and loads in new textures and then it will fire up the game.Peter

I just made my first flight using flight Environment and I must say I am very pleased. The colors are awsome!I guess the next step will be to get Active Sky to make it even more impresive than it already is. (I currently use the default downloadable weather)

Oh yeah Joseph! When you start using Activesky and start seeing multiple layers of clouds You will be very impressed. Will

Hi there and thanks for buying FE. Glad you hear you are enjoying it.Another engine to impress you is FS Metar which is freeware and adds extra layers:.... and my choice; which is FS Meteo payware. I perfer FS Meteo becuase it produces pertty much what Active Sky does, and for me produces the most amazing cloud scapes I've seen to date.FE will work with any additional weather engine.Peter

PeterActiveSky have teamed up with Chris Willis and Sky World and their next release will be a combined weather and cloud system. Will you be doing a simular thing with FSMeteo?Just interestedPeter

>ActiveSky have teamed up with Chris Willis and Sky World and>their next release will be a combined weather and cloud>system. That is correct. And Active Sky will have built-in smarts to select the most appropriate textures for the Metar at hand. It is one of the set-up options.Michael J.WinXP-Home SP2,AMD64 3500+,Abit AV8,Radeon X800Pro,36GB Raptor,1GB PC3200,Audigy 2http://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/747400.jpg

well, we have been talking to some people and we might have a new product made that will be customized to take full advantage of everything FE can do, right now there arent any weather engines that can, but the ones peter mentioned are as close as it comes....I prefer the default FS weather most times but I will use the newest Active Sky offering on occation, the newest build seems to make more 3d clouds then the older versions...
