May 29, 200521 yr Hi anyone able to get this working on the Default 737...i can get the Idle smoke effect, but when i open up the throttle,i get grey squares instead of the smoke effect...i know that it's not finding the effect file..but it is in the right place and i followed the instructions carefully..i am quite good at this sort of thing normally(i added smoke to all my AI traffic manually)i spent a couple of hours on this earlier... any ideas appreciated steve
May 29, 200521 yr Actually I had the same thing on the Posky A330/A340 & A3XX seriesDidn't have time to tinker with it so, Off the hard drive she goes.Testing Would be a nice thing before uploading software I think.Cheers Clarke Kruger - CYEG

May 30, 200521 yr Commercial Member Howdy, his effects files reference two custom bitmaps, fx_heat.bmp and fx_heat_r.bmp, which he forgot (I assume) to include.Cheers, Holger
May 30, 200521 yr Actually it may be, "and I do mean may - be" possible that you are not moving whilst testing the new install?? Any "Smoke System" entry if your standing still can produce some x(ILL effects :-erks. Just a thought. Regards,Roman FS RTWR SHRS F-111 JoinFS Little Navmap
May 30, 200521 yr thanks everyonein a way I'm quite relieved that you are having problems also.lol...it means it isn't me...I have tried it also when i'm moving so it isn't that..i know that you activate the secondary effect by pressing the I key .its tied to the Fs2004 smokesystem..I thought that it might be because i'm using the default 737 and that doesn't have a line in the aircraft config [smokesystem](i made my own one)from the FFX 737.. hopefully a new version will fix the problems we are all having. thanks again steveps ive seen a few fs2004 videos showing large clouds of smoke coming of the back of the wings on takeoff...is that the effect that is missing???
May 30, 200521 yr Got mine working (in FS2002). Since I have the IFDG Airbus 320, I used the example in his instructions and it works fine. You must put...1. Effects in 'effects' folder2. xml gauges in 'gauges' folder3. an entry or two in your panel.cfg for the new gauges.4. " in the 'lights' section of the aircraft.cfg.5 " in the 'smokesystem' section of the aircraft cfg.Works as advertised for me. (Pretty good too, I think it's a keeper.)Cheers,Bob
June 15, 200520 yr For those of you who may not know yet, Martyn Becker did come out with a version 2 of his ENGINE EXHAUST SYSTEM - filename is EES_V2.ZIP at AVSIM. I just got it to work in PMDG 737NG! (the 737-700 to be specific). It works well. However, it does NOT work in the POSKY 747-200 as I think the LIGHTS section of the POSKY aircraft.cfg has light types which are the SAME as what Martyn put in his add-on lines for the aircraft.cfg - type "9" ALREADY EXISTS in the POSKY.But getting to work on the PMDG is great and this is why I posted this - for those of you who use the 737NG will be happy to know I figure.John I love flying my "iddy biddy Jumbo" CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E8400, socket 775/3GHz/1333MHz bus/6MB cache MOBO: Asus P5E3 Deluxe WiFi-AP@n/Intel X38 chipset RAM: 4GB Kingston HyperX 1333MHz. rated 7-7-7-20, matched pair (2 x 2GB) GRAPHICS: Sapphire Radeon 5770HD 1GB (w/ fan) MONITOR: Samsung 24", 2494HM LCD wide-screen 1920x1080 SOUND: SoundBlaster Audigy 2 ZS HARD DRIVES: 1xWestern Digital WD1600JD SATA 160GB (primary/Windows XP and system boot drive) 1xWestern Digital WD3200AAJS SATA2 320GB (secondary/Flight Simulator 2004 running off WinXP Pro 32-bit, games video editing drive) 1xWestern Digital 500GB Black series SATA2 (Windows 7 64-bit: FSX is running off Win7; Windows XP Professional 32-bit) CASE: Antec Sonata III 500W OS: Windows 7 Professional 64-bit for FSX; Windows XP Pro 32-bit for other things.
