February 8, 201511 yr Recently I had modified my fsx.cfg by removing the SimObjectPath to my traffice addon Traffic X. Firstly, I removed it within SIMstarter, but each time I restarted FSX this path reappeared again! So, I modified fsx.cfg directly and re-read it by SIMstarter. Everything looked fine and each profile within SIMstarter has this particular entry removed. But whenever I start FSX through SIMstarter (either through a profile or through jumpstart, the Traffic X path entry reappears. I have no idea where SIMstarter gets this info from. And I couldn't find a way to really remove it or at least deactivate it! Do you have any idea what's wrong here? February 8, 201511 yr Now you tell this, I recall having had this issue once, too, with the only difference it concerned the Ultimate Traffic 2 path in my case, which was always reset to the old path after modification when starting the simulator, despite I had modified it in SimStarter. Finally, I made a search though the SimStarter directory for the old path and modified the path to the new path in a number of files which did the job. Later I forgot about this, don't ask me to reproduce it. February 9, 201511 yr Author Thank you, Michael! Unfortunately, I could not trace any SIMstarter file containing the non-wanted path (apart from the backup fsx.cfg files). I still have no idea where this old data comes from. Pero, do you possibly have a tip for this problem? February 9, 201511 yr I think it was Prepar3dSimObjects.cfg in my case. There are two of them, I first modified the wrong (FSX) Version, which - obviously - did not help. However, I think, this was not all of it, I had to do something in all the profile settings I use later, unfortunately I forgot the details. I was resetting the path from a Ramdisk back to the HD again. It's working now, but as I said, I had to try several times and it was always reset. I can't exclude it was my fault, of course. Kind reagrds, Michael Oh yes. The logic does not know if only a path changes. In this case you have to manual change the path in <YOUR SIM>SimObjects.cfg. Whenever SIMstarter is running a profile all SimObjects lines will be deleted and replaced by the <YOUR SIM>SimObjects.cfg located in .\UserProfiles Any idea for an improvement? : : : aviation.pero-online.deDeveloper of SIMstarter NG P3D & Homecockpit Builder
February 10, 201511 yr Author Thanks for all your help! I finally found the problem, which was me overlooking the option to define all object paths within SIMstarter. After unticking the path to my traffic addon (under "Profile Settings/FSX Configuration", everything works fine for me. And the more I get to know this tool the more I get excited about all its useful features. So, my recommendation to every user: Take your time to learn about how to use this powerful tool most effectively! Not every little feature is explained in the Readme. Thank you, Pero! February 11, 201511 yr Author I didn't mean to criticize the documentation! It's actually great, but the latest version of SIMstarter is just more extensive and powerful. Thanks again for this great addon!
