June 4, 200521 yr Hey everyone, I am considering purchasing Flight One's Ultimate Traffic program. It looks awesome, but i just want to make sure of some stuff. First, I know it creates AFCAD files for airports so does it interfere with other AFCAD files for third-party add-ons (i.e. like airports downloaded here at AVSIM) and (i think this may be a dumb question, but wanting to make sure lol) Does it create the traffic for you or do you have to set flight plans and all that other stuff like with Traffic Tools? The program looks awesome but i just wanna check and make sure it doesn't mess up the traffic at add-on airports, and that it's easy to use. THANKS!!!
June 4, 200521 yr Yes it installs it's own AFCADs so you will have to check for duplicates after you install. It does everything pretty much automatically. Click on the compile button and all the flightplans are set up with the aircraft models.Bottom line with UT is that it's the simplest way to get lots of realistic traffic into FS. You won't get the best aircraft models or maybe not even the best flightplans, but only way to get the very best AI world is to do everything manually which takes many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many hours. Also, UT is a very good starting point. You can start with UT default plans and models, and then replace a few hear and there with better ones when you have time.Matt
June 4, 200521 yr UTs AFCADs do not include parking assignments, so if you have AFCADs that have and are also for scenery add-ons you would keep those. Since you can only have one AFCAD above the default for any area, you just move the UT afcads out of their folder to another for safe keeping.UT makes a great starting point. I did remove UPS, DHL/Airborne, and FedEx from their schedule since they have limited flght plans and installed those from other sources. I also install other AFCADs where appropriate and many of these are in the libs and at PAI.I do use it and it has simplified much of the work in getting started with only minor tune-ups if desired.
June 4, 200521 yr Author Also, the new Spring/summer '05 schedule was just released which also included some rework on how the traffic spends time at the gates. I've already noticed a very significant improvement in traffic flows, even at congested airports like KEWR, where I used toget these huge conga lines on the ground. UT just keeps getting better. Mike
June 5, 200521 yr Mike, I have looked around for data on the new schedule without success. Does it have more flights than before? Where did you see the time at gates has changed?I am also concerned about loosing some of the old birds I have now. I currently see Northwest DC-10's, but I know they have all been retired. Anyway to retain those? I don't see a way other than reassigning aircraft or creating some flights for them by hand.Tony
June 5, 200521 yr Author All the info is on the UT forum: http://ultimatetraffic.flight1.net/forums/ I just did a quick check on the aircraft assignments in UT and couldn't find any NW DC-10's. As the new schedule is for the current time frame, I'm not surprised they are gone. Mike
