June 5, 200521 yr Am interested in buying, or finding freeware of a CRJ package for FS9. I mistakenly downloaded and installed the POSKY package and had a terrible time getting it to work right. Finally determined it was the 2002 version and probably wouldn't run correctly in FS2004. Couldn't locate an updated version. Serves me right for not checking closely!Have been looking and Wilco has two packages, one boxed, one download. Does anyone have experience with these aircraft? I am interested only in very good quality and willing to go for payware for a good sim of the CRJ.This has probably been asked here before. I searched the library... is there are different search mechanism for the forums?Any leads appreciated.I am a recently returned simflyer, having given up on earlier releases of MSFS. I must say that the help and advice of all sorts being given on this forum has been of invaluable assistance. Thanks to each of you!
June 5, 200521 yr I've got both versions and I'm very happy with them. I suggest you you take the plunge, you wouldn't be dissapointed. Also check out the feelthere ERJ 145 http://www.feelthere.com/fas/ProductDetail...x?productID=411 it's also a great package.Dave FisherCYYZP4 Prescott 3.2e 478p 800mhz 1mg CPUP4P800S Asus Motherboard1.0 gig PC3200 DDR RAM 400MHZGeforce Ti 4200/128Maxtor 40 Gig ATA 133 HD x2WDC WD800 80 Gig HDhttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/ng_driver.jpg

I'm not sure what you mean by "both" packages. The only two I saw were both on the Wilco site, the fine print indicated the packages were the same, one boxed, the other download.Could you clarify for me please?donmac
June 5, 200521 yr One of the best CRJ sites for freeware aircraft that are well constrcted, have excellent flight dynamics and come complete with panels and sound packages can be found at: http://www.premaircraft.com/index.htmlCheck out their products, you won't be dissapointed.
June 5, 200521 yr Thanks so much John, for that reference. Had missed it completely. Of course one cannot be expected to find everything one desires in a month or so. :D donmac
June 5, 200521 yr The Opensky CRJ is still an excellent freeware aircraft model and works in FS9 with the update. I fly it with the Kevin Sparkuhl's 'Skydecks' payware (inexpensive)panel. This makes it a great package. (Doesn't have FMC)
June 6, 200521 yr My 2 cents, I tried everyone of the mentioned products. The Wilco CRJ is by far the best. You do have to pay, but if you willing to, it is definitly worth it. But if you're looking for freeware, I like the Premier model better. ---Brian Bash---398 HR MEL PPL and climbing!
June 6, 200521 yr Hi..I have both downloaded version's and am satisfied with these products. The installation was easy and they come with addition liveries. The FMC works well and i added addditional wing views to the 2D panel with wings. There is a nice ERJ-145/135 freeware you can dowload from Flight Sim..It is a total package with aircraft from Dreamwings and very nice panel..Regards TH
June 6, 200521 yr Thanks to each of you for your thoughts. Appreciate them very much.I tried the OpenSky CRJ but could not read the instruments. I am running in 1280x1024 but the lettering and numbers appeared so small that I knew I couldn't fly it for long.Did download the Premier stuff but have not installed it as yet.In the short time I've been back to MSFS (about 8 years away from it) there have been tremendous improvements. I am thankful for those with the talent and initiative who publish their products, either without cost or for a profit. Many thanks again.donmac
June 6, 200520 yr Hmm, just when the Feelthere CRJ was released I belive I saw some screenshots somewhere on another payware CRJ in the making that looked bloody awesome! Does anyone have a clue to what I'm talking about? I really would like a good rendition of a regional jet, I think that the Feelthere rendition of the CRJ is so so.. The ERJ is better, but still not top notch IMHO..rgrds fredrik

Now that's done maybe they'll do carry on with it because those screenshots promise something very, very special.
June 6, 200520 yr Hello Oldngray, First of all, for now, Wilco has the only Payware CRJ products, and yes, they have TWO different products, in THREE different "packages" : 1-"CRJ Experience" - Focuses on the CRJ200 only, it was the first to be released.2-"CRJ New Generation" - Focuses on the bigger CRJ700 and CRJ900. It is available at a discounted "upgrade" price for those who buy the previous product.3-"Wilco Fleet : CRJ" - CD-ROM only, this product INCLUDES both the "Experience" and the "New Generation" (therefore all the CRJs), as well as a 30 min. Cockpit Video extracted from a much longer "Just Planes" DVD, made on-board several flights with austrian "Styrian Spirit".The first two are available as downloads, the third is a CD-Rom only.My advice : Buy the two downloadables, and then order the "Just Planes" DVD directly from the Internet. It's a 180+ minutes video REALLY well worth it.These products simulate the majority of the systems really well, have a very accurate FMS which simulates almost all the functions of the real ones (including changes in several pages due to the different engines between the -200 and the -700/900)."feelThere" was the company who developed these CRJ products, and they have become better and better at each new release. I have their PIC ERJ 145 product (which was released this year), and it is extremely well put together, better frame-rates, better overal documentation, etc.ANOTHER USEFUL INFO : Check out the website below. It includes a bunch of information as well as many different liveries for the CRJs and the ERJs. http://www.regional-jets.de/ Have fun!
June 6, 200520 yr Thank you ap... for that very thorough explanations of what is available there for the CRJs.As a retired ATP I have a penchant for accuracy, the lack of which led me to give up MSFS for about 8 years. A good friend of mine here locally flies the CRJ-200 and has just finished his training for the -700. I'd like to surprise him when he visits with a rendition on my machine. He'd be able to give a very good analysis as to the comparisons between real world and flight sim.Having flown for more than 50 years now I can pretty much tell what is right and what is not but am not used to all the "glass". The problem I had with the initial install of the -200 was my inability to read the small print in the PFD and ND. Unless that improves in some of the future models, mayhaps I'll forget some of these very beautiful machines.Wonder how clear the glass is in the VC. Can't seem to remember if I tried that... often happens when one gets older... the failing to remember, that is. :) Thanks again for your kindness.donmac
June 6, 200520 yr Yup, that's the one, thanks a lot for the link! Apparently that thread was updated in may by someone connected to the project that talked about a website and more info coming soon!!! Mmmm, just imagine a RJ made to the same standards as F1:s ATR!!rgrds fredrik Edit: Doh, apparently the website is online now, those preview screenshots look very very promising!! :9 Just hope we dont have to wait 'til fs07 (08?) to try it! :-)
June 7, 200520 yr >Thank you ap... for that very thorough explanations of what>is available there for the CRJs.>(..............)>Wonder how clear the glass is in the VC. Can't seem to>remember if I tried that... often happens when one gets>older... the failing to remember, that is. :) Don, Personally i consider the Wilco CRJ to be among the best paywares available, realy very very well executed and accurate. There is no comparison with the freeware stuff, which in most cases do not resemble the actual displays in the CRJ, but are fictional displays based on the authors creativity. Many people (like me) in training for regional jets are using this and other paywares very successfully for training. There are good checklists available on the feelThere forums (transcripts of checklists in use by some operators), which makes the whole experience really worthwhile. As far as seeing the glass well, we have to remember these guys are working within the constraints of FS9 (aka FS 2004). feelThere approach to making this better was the "pop-up" windows for all of the "glass" screens. Both in the 2D panel and also in the VC, you can click on any (or all) of the glass screens and they will pop-up in a much bigger size. I usually fly with all of them "blown up" side-by-side (on the ERJ, that is, but the CRJ works in the same way).If your computer is capable of working with 2 monitors, you can actually "undock" these pop-up windows and drag them to the second monitor which can become your primary display, or as I do, I bring up all the other normal pop-ups (like the throttle pedestal, radio, overhead panel, display controls, etc), "undock" them from the main screen then drag them to the second monitor so I can see them all at the same time. You will enjoy it no doubt.AP
