June 16, 200520 yr I have a PIV 2.oGh with 512MB RAM and a 256 ATI 9600 card. With Flytampa everything slows down so bad (I will be uninstalling it though it looks GOOD-demo version). I was reading a recent thread where someone recommended someone to try out EGLL Pro so as to see the framerate difference. I did and found it better than Flytampa. I have Japanscenery and Megascenery and framerates are excellent with those. The Paris base pack is like Megascenery right? Not slow? And the CDG Add on?Now I want to use virtual cockpits (as in PMDG?) with my sim but I don't know what the framrate hit will be.There is PIC a/c, PMDG, Ariane, etc etc and I am wondering which has the smoothest framerates. In fact, is there a VC I can just whack onto my Meljet or POSKY a/c? I got the 757 VC (not bad!) of POSKY, and it seems very friendly with framerates. I can't put the default MSFS VC onto my Meljet or POSKY a/c?Now I also would like to simulate real weather (with AS and maybe FE too?) and I want to use a weather radar (any freebies somewhere?).I guess we have to wait for technology to catch up with Flight sim?Real Jets use TCAS and weather radar. The TCAS displays traffic doesn't it, not just 'close' traffic?Danielwww.danielmcaloon.tk
June 16, 200520 yr You won't be getting good frames when flying in a VC, especially with add-on scenery. You can't put a VC in an airplane that doesn't have one already. I purchased the new Active Sky and am extremely happy. That comes with a weather radar gauge. Not all real jets have weather radar by the way.FS9 is limited by the outdated engine, not even my computer which is an FX-55 can get frames above 30 in heavy traffic, weather, and big airports when flying in the VC
June 16, 200520 yr Daniel,There are a few recent posts on EGLL and CDG that might help. June 16, 200520 yr there is an update for UK2000 Pro but if you read the manual you'll see that the FPS gain will be acheaved by turning off AI and dropping your sliders....well duh, I get better fps anywhere if I do that. I think they did a great job with heathrow but egad, a fps hit. I get about 10-15fps in real weather and the LDS767 there....FlyTampa are some of the most fps friendly addons out there and I get 20-25 (locked at 25) there in VC and real weather most of the time. At KPVD by Flightsceneries I get a solid lock in fps there, it is no fps hit what so ever in any plane.
June 16, 200520 yr "but if you read the manual you'll see that the FPS gain will be acheaved by turning off AI and dropping your sliders....well duh, I get better fps anywhere if I do that."LMAO!! :-lol too funny, yet to true! It's as stated, FS has an outdated/ poorly coded engine and will work best with default , no addons, which is sad as this is what makes the sim enjoyable for most of us. I'm with Spooky, the Flightscenery Rhode island is the best airport for detail vs framerates, truly outstanding. June 17, 200520 yr TCAS will show aircraft below your relative altitude, above, or both, and will show the difference in altitude then a arrow pointing up or down to show if they are above or below. Then it also shows the aircrafts position in relation to yours. It shows difference in altitude, and where they are around your plane. You can select your ranges. So in cruise, i use 80NM. So i see aircraft within 80NM, on the arrival, i bump it down to 20-40, on the approach to the airport, around 10 or so, then when im final and on the approach speed of around 180 or so, what ever the approach speed is, ill knock it down to 6NM when im going with the traffic...hope this helps ya! :-wave Chase Barnett
June 17, 200520 yr Thanks all very much! The Flytampa scenery I have downloaded is Miami. But I suppose because of advances the KSFO is much better. Like everything (even Megascenery) it keeps getting better for FPS.I got the new EGLL and it is smoother than Miami. The Tokyo scenery I got is quite good at Haneda and Tokyo, though at the airports there is a knock on the FPS but I think its still decent, for my machine anyway. The TCAS is that a bought add-on, downloaded freebie or included in your add-on a/c like PMDG?Does PMDG have weather radar as well as the TCAS?Thanks for all your help.Daniel
June 18, 200520 yr I too, highly recommend the Flighscenery Rhode Island scenery. June 18, 200520 yr No weather radar unfortunately, but it does have TCAS built in. One of the most complete add-ons out there!
