I know this subject has had numerous previous posts however I cant seem to find any single post that answers my questions !

I am new to the 737-800 NGX and am 'exploring' its various equipment etc.

So far I have been unable to get the Airstairs to work - and yes they are listed as fitted in the CDU.

So can anyone advise please how I deploy the stairs, how I retract the stairs, whether there are any conditions that must be satisfied before they will operate eg must be at a gate, chocked, external power, APU or Battery etc etc.

I haven't referred to the FCOM where the specific answers can be found; however, I do know that if you are on ground power the stairs will operate. No hydraulics required.  They will probably work with APU as well.  I wouldn't expect them to work on batter only where load shed occurs.  I assume you have found the airstair operate button on the FMS FS Actions Doors page.
