To all the guys who responded - thanks. Although I live in Australia I do 99% of my FSX flying in the UK so some sort of cached scenery approach sounds like a real possibility. The download figures I quoted are fairly constant so I am now more optimisitic than I was before. As someone suggested I will do some research in the direction of cached scenery.. Thanks again, M

Hello, I have been flying FSX for many years now but I think the time has come for me to get serious about a move to MSFS. But before I take the plunge I think I need a little advice. I dont foresee any hardware issues as I will upgrade just about everything with MSFS in mind. I am however somewhat confused about MSFS scenery. Some while back I understood that MSFS 'streams' scenery 'as you fly'. If this is true then I will have problems with my internet download speeds - which although not too bad at all - are still likely cause some problems. I dont live in a big city but I cant imagine that everybody flying MSFS has super fast internet. So is 'streaming' still the case or is it possible to download MSFS scenery ? Ideally of course I would like to download scenery for the areas in which I fly - which is what I do right now - OrbX plus other stuff. I appreciate the huge size of the downloads but I can cope with that for sure. Any help would be good, thanks, M

Hello All, I dont know whether what I am seeking is possible - but I will ask anyway. I am running dual monitors with FSX on Monitor 1 and LNM Map 'dragged' across to Monitor 2. Both displays are excellent. Although I can now easily 'follow' my FSX flights on LNM on Monitor 2, immediately i want to 'tinker' with something in LNM (eg zoom in on an approach) FSX sound is instantly muted. I know its not a big deal but my question is : is it possible to maintain FSX sound whilst making small changes to LNM during a flight ? Thanks, Mike

Hello Alex, All fixed !!! Your question : "You copied from and to "C:\Users\YOURUSERNAME\AppData\Roaming\ABarthel\little_navmap_db", right?" rang some bells in my head. I wrongly assumed that I should copy the "ilttle_nav_map_db" folder from within "LittleNavMap-win32-2.8.9" - NOT from "....AppData etc" Instant fix and now all working on networked laptop. Thanks very much for all your help - I really can now get back to flying, Thanks again, Mike

Hello Alex, Back again. I am certain I have done everything as per the User Guide - but I still have the red 'empty data base' message. The only uncertainty that remains is that you mentioned copying the database 'in the right place'. I copied not just 2 but all the files into the folder 'little_navmap_db' - I assume that was right ? Also I copied over a Flight Plan which showed up OK but of course it couldnt find the waypoints - no database. Finally, main menu 'Scenery Library/Navigraph-AIRAC Cycle 1801' is set to 'Use Navigraph for Navaids and Procedures' in both computers as recommended in User Guide. Am rapidly thinking that maybe I wont network after all and instead get a cheap small second desktop monitor to run side by side with my main monitor. Maybe I will get back to actually flying soon, Mike

Hello All, my first post. I am finding LNM superb but I have one issue which I need a little help with, Am running FSX and I have set up a Networked Laptop with my 'Flying PC' desktop. All appears to be working OK - changes in location of my aircraft immediatly show on the networked laptop, and AI traffic all the same as on Desktop. BUT although a Flight Plan is all good on the Desktop, saved and exported to .PLN OK, loaded in FSX Flight Planner, FP shows on aircraft GPS all OK, the FP does NOT show on the networked laptop. There is a small red box at the bottom of the networked laptop LNM map that says 'Database is empty' although I have copied all database files across from the Flying Desktop. The User Guide is a little quiet on precise location of files/folders. I run FSX on a separate drive 'D' but all LNM files and folders are on C Drive on both computers - I dont know whether that could be an issue - but as I said everything works OK apart from the missing flight plan on the networked Laptop. Any help would be great, Thanks, Mike

Hello All, Does anyone know whether its possible to store flight plans in the Universal FMC and then load a particular one when required ? It's possible in many other FMCs but I cant find how to do it in the Universal. Thanks Mike

Hi Guys, Did anyone manage to make any progress in getting their hands on the Baron 58 mods ? Am asking bbecause I have just bought the Baron, Great aircraft but the GNS 430 is a massive disappointment. I dont mind a 'cut down' version but the Caranado 430 really is short of some very basic functions. Any help would be great. thanks Mike

Hello All, I have run into a small problem when using my Garmin 530 in my Dornier Do228 (FSX). Understandably there seems to be isolated instances of some of the Garmin 530 data now being clearly out of date. For example EGMD (Lydd) now has 2 ILS 'equipped' runways (5 and 23) yet Garmin's 530 RWY 5 has no ILS at all - RWY 23 is OK Excuse my ignorance on the subject but is it possible to update the 530's database ? Or failing that is it possible to swap the 530 for a more up to date GPS ? Of course if neither is possible then it certainly is not the end of the world ! Has anyone any thoughts on this ? Thanks. Mike

Hello All, I have been using Simbrief for a while - no problems. Simbrief has always automatically downloaded Plans into my Aerosoft A320 FMS as a co-route. In my set up the A320 looks for Plans in c:users/username/OneDrive/Documents/Aerosoft/Airbus/FlightPlans. I dont know where this 'address' originates from but it has always worked ! FSX is running on a separate hard drive. I am unsure how 'OneDrive' fits in. Now I am finding the Plans are going into 'downloads' just like any other downloaded files ! Sure I can copy the plan across to where they used to go, I seem to remember Simbrief should download FPs as a .pln BUT it is now downloading as a .flp. Now I really dont know what has happened - have I corrupted Simbrief somehow ? How does the A320 know where to search for FPs ? As it all used to happen seamlessly I am seeking some help. Any help ? Comments etc etc. Thanks, Mike

Thanks Jason, The AivlaSoft EFB software has 2 parts - one part is the 'Server' that acts as an 'intermediary' that sits between the Sim and the second part of the software which is the 'Client'. It is this second part that is where the 'user' does all the planning all the planning plus lots more. There is an option to run the 'Server' and Sim on the same PC [much simpler but really needs 2 monitors] and the Client on 'another' separate PC - which is I want to do. My problem is that AivlaSoft dont really address the networking nuts and bolts of making the separate PC option happen. Thanks anyway, Mike

Hello All, Am unsure whether this is the right (sub) forum – no doubt someone will put me right. I am about to purchase AivlaSoft EFB and need a little advice. Currently I have a desktop running FSX on W10 plus a new laptop also running W10 - both have plenty of grunt and both access the internet through the same router located adjacent to both PCs. As suggested by AivlaSoft I want to run FSX and the EFB Server on the desktop with EFB Client on the Laptop. I am somewhat nervous as I have read many posts suggesting W10 has made even setting up a simple small network somewhat difficult. Being a total newbie to networking I am asking whether has anyone put together a similar set up (or related networking knowledge) and if so can you give me a little advice on how to make it happen, settings etc etc. Thanks, Mike Ody

Hello All, I have just reinstalled my Do228 but apart from going through the 'Views' menu I cant find an easy shortcut/hot key to access the overhead panel. I managed to solve this issue a long time ago but have forgotten what I must do. Can anyone help please. Thanks, Mike Ody

I have just shut down my Do228 after a flight by holding down using Ctrl+F2. Props take a while to stop rotating [unlike the usual FSX default planes] but that seems to me to be far more realistic anyway. Mike Ody

Am flying the Carenado Do 228 using FSX/W7. There doesnt appear to be a 'shortcut' to quickly access the Do 228 Overhead Panel and as far as I can see I can only access this view by going through the route of Views/View Mode/Cockpit/Overhead Panel - not good if you want to get to this panel reasonably quickly when flying. There is a [CameraDefinition.005] section in the Do 228 aircraft.cfg file which is the Overhead Panel.. Does anyone know how [if ?] I can create a 'shortcut' in the Do 228 that works ? Thanks, Mike Ody

Hello All, Now this may well not be an ORBX issue at all but so far I cant find an answer to this issue. I am running ORBX England and have never experienced any problems - great scenery. However for the first time I have flown my Aerosoft A320 into EGGP RWY 27. All looked good on approach until it became clear that I was coming down about 20m to the right of the RWY. I flew it again this time on RWY09 only to come down 20m to the left of the RWY. If I start a flight from EGGP the aircraft loads perfectly on the centreline. I tried the same flight with the default C172 and again I came down 20m from the RWY. All my AIRACS are up to date and I have run 'makerunways' successfully. Has anyone any idea of what is happpening at my EGGP. Thanks, Mike Ody

Hello all, I have been enjoying flying the B1900D but so far I have only navigated using the GPS. Am now getting stuck into the FMS. I have run into a problem in when, in flight, I want to add an approach to a FP [ie RWY, STAR, transition etc]. Menu/VNAV asks me to select an APPR. But the list of approaches is 'empty'. I am flying to EGKK which has loads of approaches and my Navigraph data is up to date. Can anyone advise please what silly thing I have missed ? Thanks, Mike Ody

New to FS2 Crew - need some help please
mikeody replied to mikeody's topic in FS2CREW: PMDG 737 NGX REBOOT
OK Panic Over ! I fell into a 'trap for new players' [or I need to admit myself to the asylum]. The problem was that I made the mistake of assuming I had to make only TWO key assignments - one for main panel/button, plus one for a secondary button. The reality is it is - one key to 'Open the Main Panel', another for the 'Main Panel Button' and a third for 'Secondary Key'. I was trying to initiate the Checklist using the 'open the Main Panel' assignment. If I re-read the Tutorial I guess it was entirely my fault - although just a little confusing. Silly me ! Thanks to all who tried to help. But dont worry I am sure I will be back sooner or later with more questions ! Mike Ody -
New to FS2 Crew - need some help please
mikeody replied to mikeody's topic in FS2CREW: PMDG 737 NGX REBOOT
Thanks Bryan. I am getting sound OK - Cpt [get show on the road], FO [start and finish walk around], Clicks and bells as FO does his Procs, FA [for boarding and my response via Secondary Buttom]. The issue is that everything seems to go OK until I want to run the pre-flight checklist. I have PREFLIGHT CHECKLIST in yellow on the Main Panel, wait for +11, then hit Main Button. At that stage I was expecting to have a brief 'checklist run through' between me and the FO but all that happens is the Main Panel blinks, and nothing happens. The clock keeps counting down [and if I do nothing the next set of FO procs happens, and a bit later I hear the load sheet arrive etc]. I have read all about Main Button not working if there is a conflict in button assignments and on the surface it seems like it could be that. However I have checked FSX button assignments which are what they should be, and the PMDG Key Commands where there is no conflict. I did a reinstall of FS2Crew this morning but there is no change. Any ideas what I should try next ? thanks again, Mike ody -
New to FS2 Crew - need some help please
mikeody replied to mikeody's topic in FS2CREW: PMDG 737 NGX REBOOT
And now a follow up question ! I am slowly getting my mind around button control FS2Crew on PMDG 737NGX Reboot SOP2 but I have a problem with initiating the PreFlight Checklist. Am loading Cold and Dark Panel. Prelim Flight Events, Pre Flight Procedure, FO Walk Around, Boarding all seem to happen as I expected. I carefully work through my PreFlight Procedures OK and I see the FO Procedures 'happening' via switches, bells etc. At +11 minutes [in conjunction with FO ?] I have to carry out the Pre Flight Checklist. The Tutorial [sOP2] says " To run the Preflight Checklist press the MAIN button". BUT when I press the button the Main Panel just blinks and nothing else happens - and the clock keeps counting down. Two things occur to me ? The FO hasnt completed his PreFlight Procedures - but I waited until +11 so I wouldnt think that would be a problem. The captain [Me] didnt do his PreFlight Procedures correctly or they were incomplete. A prod in the right direction please. Mike Ody
