Oh no, all Effects lost!

Featured Replies

help, please!

I deleted my Effect - files, all of them. I was able to find MS effects from my back ups, but most of the effects - files are gone. They are mostly from the ORBX -sceneries (most of the areas and a lot of airports)  and aircrafts of Carenado (A36, C185), RealAir (Duke v1), Milviz B732 to mention the most inportant ones. Do I have to install all these again?

Plz, what to do?

If you didn't keep a backup of your FSX folder, you will have to reinstall. If you kept one recent enough, just copy in the Effecrs folder.

Backing up important stuff after every major change is a good habit to get into.

Try reinstalling Acceleration as I believe it updated most of the effects for fsx. If not, you can try a repair by inserting your Deluxe FSX DVD and selecting the repair option. You will have to do the same for Acceleration or SP2 (but not both).

Backup your scenery.cfg folder and the folder containing your fsx.cfg as these folders will be overwritten (if you repair FSX; if you just reinstall Acceleration or SP2, these files will not be touched).

Orbx and the other products will have to be reinstalled to get those effects back as sharing of the various effects installed by these payware product is not allowed. Many products also have the repair option.
