Can't load P-8A Poseidon livery through livery manager

Featured Replies

I have the 737 NGX (with SP-1D) and downloaded the Poseidon P-8A livery over AVSIM.

Trying to install it via PMDG Livery Manager causes an Error message: "unknown Variant" to appear.

How is this to be resolved?

737 NGX (with SP-1D) already includes the Poseidon P-8A livery.

So does new version 1.10.6461

How can I get it? I don't have it in the livery downloader of OC and it is not in fsx...

Ships are cooler that you think.

I looked here:

F:\FSX\SimObjects\Airplanes

Poseiden is in the PMDG list.

It was added with the updates as far as I know.

Are you using the downloaded product ..? That is what I used. Full installer.

I do not have it there... I tried to "repair" instead of reinstall it. Going to try that now

I have the same problem!

I don't have the Poseidon livery automatically installed and I can't install the .ptp to my FSX platform because the Installation declares that it is only for the P3D Version.

Found the solution!

When installing the update I just selected "repair" instead of uninstall. When repairing the OC says that you have the correct version even though the P-8 Poseidon isn't there. What I did was that I uninstalled the NGX packages and installed the new ones. Then the Poseidon popped up. If you are unsure, as vonmar said, it has an own folder in the "Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\SimObjects\Airplanes" folder.

Thanks for the help Vonmar

Regards,

Manfred

What does this have to do with the Problem? You are not supposed to uninstall the new SP-1d patch. Wasn't it supposed to run as a repair?

When repairing the OC says that you have the correct version even though the P-8 Poseidon isn't there.

The Operations Center doesn't say anything when the patch is installed. And when you activate the OC, it doesn't proclaim that you have a right or wrong version of anything?!

What I did was that I uninstalled the NGX packages and installed the new ones.

Are you saying, you re-started the SP-1d patch and uninstalled and then re-installed 737 NGX (all the NGX packages??). Or did you mean the liveries? I also un-installed the liveries and downloaded automatically the whole list. There was no Poseidon livery in the list of liveries!

Can someone please explain precisely what to do to get the P-8A Poseidon livery for the FSX 737-NGX?

Uninstall the NGX and then install it again.

OK...that was the easy solution.

Why doesn't PMDG mention the need to un- then reinstall the program in their Update-ReadMe?

...it would surely save a lot of unneeded fuss and time.
