Runway in sight! ....But I don't want to see it yet

Featured Replies

Is there a fix for this? Shooting the ILS, I can see the runway lights all the way out from the IAF... Then when I get to minimums, the runway 'finally' disappears. Is there a way to keep the runway 'behind the fog?'

Thanks!

Have you tried ASN weather? I shoot CAT3 approaches to minimums and don't see a darn thing until I am almost on the numbers.

Yep, that's what I am using in this scenario right here

Can't tell in your shots but is it an addon scenery? Sometimes custom lighting will show through the clouds.

I remember that happening in FSX sometimes too, until the DX10 fixer came out. This isn't addon scenery per se, it's the 'default' KRDD airport in ORBX Northern California

Orbx stuff shows through the clouds for me....  their lights (as well as UTX lights) do this.

That's interesting.... Here only the runway lights are in sight, but the rest of the city lights are hidden behind the fog. I resized the lights using the light tool from ORBX. Maybe it doesn't effect runway lights. That may be a REX issue? Hm, I'll mess around and see what happens.

FWIW, I use UTX lights and not orbx lights. Does it happen at ALL airports or just a few? Perhaps it's in the modelling of the airport.
