I did a complete/name defrag a few days ago.  It did help.  I might do another one to see if it will help further.

I am also having long pauses happen but today rebuilt the FSX.cfg and things were definitely better.  I did not add any tweaks other than adding in a few lines for the DX10 fixer to work.
