since I've upgraded my FSX with High Resolution Scenery I'm experiencing Virtual Memory OOM's with the PMDG 747X. Since I never use the Virtual Cockpit I wonder whether there is a way to disable it and whether this would reduce the Virtual Memory load. In the PMDG options I don't find a "Show VC" option some treads talk about and in the panel.cfg I see the entry panel=VC which must be replaced by something like panel=2D I guess. Can somebody tell me whether 2D is the right value to set here, thx.

Isn't there a tool included that does just that; 'performance manager' or the like?

 

And yes, it will lower your VAS footprint.

Why don't you try DX10 ? I had the same problem with the NGX but after upgrading to DirectX 10 all my problems are gone and everything looks much better.
