April 29, 201511 yr just installed the Denver megasceneryearth. Flew the Pmdg 737. Took off from orbx jacksons hole. With hybrid mode checked in ftx central. I got into the air for about 10 min and crash to desktop. I read in the megasceneryearth manual to set your LOD high to get the sharp textures. If I go a 7.5 LOD should I turn off any liberies that I am not using? How does that work in hybrid mode? I have pnw, nca and crm installed. Obviously I need crm for kjac to work. But can I turn off say, kpsp, nca, pnw and any other of my flightbeam and fsdreamteam airports? Thanks. I7 930 at 4.2. Gtx 970. 12 gb ram. Add ons : asn. Rex4. Pmdg 737. Ezdok. April 29, 201511 yr Asking the sim for a LOD of 7.5 is just inbound for OOM (out of available memory) errors... Especially with addon scenery. Try lowering your LOD to 6.5 or what I use for a good balance 4.5 The experience of flying, is the experience of feeling alive!
April 29, 201511 yr Author Yeah that's what I figured. I think I ran 4.5 for years. Gotta say the Tetons looked fantastic at 7.5! Thanks. Greg Smith
April 29, 201511 yr I agree. A former member name Word Not Allowed wrote a guide 2-3 years ago and introduced the high LOD and he recommended 9.5. A couple of months later he said something like it was too high and caused FSX crashes for him. I use 6.5 and it works great for me. It may eat up some VAS for longer trips (over 2 hours) but I try to keep my flights below that and, of course, have modest/conservative FSX.cfg settings. Texture_Max_Load at 4096 can also cause OOM's if coupled with high LOD_Radius settings. I have found 2048 works good for me if I'm having problems with a particular flight plan. But mostly I keep it at 4096. According to your crash report, the cause of your crash though was the g3d module. The AVSIM CTD Guide provides information on how to fix the infamous g3d.dll errors but mostly, install the fsuipc.dll (freeware or payware version) and that program will trap this error most of the time and let you continue to fly. Your exceptionally high overclock for your CPU may also be a problem. Just getting it to 4.0 GHz is a major chore. Best regards, Jim Young | AVSIM Online! - Simming's Premier Resource! April 29, 201511 yr Author Thanks for your help guys! On the fsuipc.dll, can I just try the demo version and see if that fixes it? Or would I eventually need the full version? Thanks. Greg Smith
April 29, 201511 yr There is no demo version. Just an unregistered and a registered version. You do not need the registered but I bought it as the developers ability to trap this one nasty CTD was worth it to me. I also use it to monitor VAS (when you run out of VAS, you get an OOM). The AVSIM CTD Guide shows you how to do this. Best regards, Jim Young | AVSIM Online! - Simming's Premier Resource!
